Help! I have an event tomorrow to go to tomorrow. I've washed my hair in preparation but I've had a serious allergic reaction to something I've used on my hair! I've used all the products before with no problem so I'm at a loss to understand it. My whole neck and decolletage is red, sore and itchy!! It looks like sunburn or a chemical burn! Does anyone have any suggestions to get it to reduce and appear less unsightly before tomorrow? I've sent hubby to the pharmacy but the pharmacist just gave him antihistamine tablets which have so far so done bugger all. Please give me some help to make it go down! My chest looks like it's deeply embarrassed to be seen with the rest of me!

Caladryl lotion

Waveysnail · 09/08/2019 19:33

Keep taking antihistamines and don't scratch. You could try oats in a bag in a bath - I do this to sooth my eczema

ThisIsMyBuick · 09/08/2019 19:37

Have you got any,of the stuff you put on insect bites?

Wonkybanana · 09/08/2019 19:39

Calamine lotion or aloe vera gel should help to calm things down.
Calamine is really good for things like this because of the zinc content, but the advantage of aloe vera is that it's colourless, so you could use it during the day tomorrow.

Really recommend LaRochePosay Cicaplast cream. It's a bit of a miracle worker for things like that. You can get it in Boots.

Calamine lotion, Sudocrem?

hedgehoglurker · 09/08/2019 19:43

Try to cool it too - ice packs/ frozen peas in a cloth. Hydrocortisone cream applied in thin layer perhaps - follow instructions.

Wilmalovescake · 09/08/2019 19:45

Cold showers, more antihistamine, sudocrem

Rosebud21 · 09/08/2019 19:49

Moisturise lots (e.g. Aveeno), antihistamine tablet - piriton/chlorphenamine (4mg) x6 daily, hydrocortisone 1% cream twice a day.

TooManyPups · 09/08/2019 19:49

Bepanthen (I can't use sudocreme personally) or any nappy cream... Its like miracle cream in my house lol

WrongKindOfFace · 09/08/2019 20:10

What tablets did the pharmacist give you? I’d take piriton - the ones that make you drowsy, not the none drowsy version.

I’d also try a cold compress to take down the inflammation.

bookishtartlet · 09/08/2019 20:52

You can buy low hydrocortisone over the counter. Thin layer about 20 mins after a layer of emollient such as e45. Should sort it right out.

Morgomargot · 09/08/2019 20:53

Thank you!! Pharmacist has given me loratadine. I have calamine cream from when the kids had chicken pox. I've slathered that on it and it doesn't feel as bad but it still looks pretty bad. I have aveeno too so I'll slap some of that on as well. If its still a car crash tomorrow I'll be sending hubby to boots for the LaRochePossay suggestion. In the mean time ice and desperate hope that I don't look like I've been wearing a plutonium necklace tomorrow!

You can get the Vichy from larger Boots stores as well Morgomargot Vichy derma blend is beloved by make up artists as its the best coverage you can get.

steff13 · 10/08/2019 05:13

1% Hydrocortisone cream.

Timmytoo · 10/08/2019 05:22

Could it be jewelery or something on your clothes. I get that on my neck from anything with nickel in it. It doesn't appear anywhere else on my body.
