We're sailing back from Le Harve to Portsmouth on Sat 10th and the weather warnings for storms and wind are frightening the life out of me!
I'm not a nervous traveller but am really worried about the crossing. Kids unaware of the forecast.
Do those big ferries sail in storms? Can anyine calm me? Shock

I have sailed on a ferry in a storm. We did sail but it took longer and I think it took a couple of hours to dock. The worst thing was travel sickness. So make sure you have plenty of sick bags.

I would suggest you check the website for your ferry company. Brittany Ferries are still running their services from Le Havre but have cancelled others so they’re obviously taking it seriously.

We’ve had some very stormy crossings in the past - the children and my husband are fine, it’s just me who can’t manage!

If it’s a daytime crossing I’d suggest booking a cabin anyway if you can so you have somewhere private to be if it is a bit rough.

Best of luck, hope it’s ok!

We sailed from Calais to Dover in a bad storm. It was pretty horrendous, there were announcements telling us to remain seated, we were unable to dock at Dover because the port authorities were only allowing one ship to enter or leave the harbour at a time so we spent hours out at sea and we weren't allowed back to our vehicles until the ship was moored up.

It depends upon the size of the ship. We sailed Portsmouth to Santander (Brittany Ferries) in storm conditions like tomorrow - it was rough and the crossing took longer than scheduled. Seasickness tablets and crisps worked for us.
