I have a Dyson cordless which is great, mil bought one but finds it difficult to use. She has arthritis in her thumb, holding the trigger down all the time is painful.
Does anyone know of a lightweight cordless with an easier 'on' switch ?

There are a few where switch stays on by itself eg
Bosch cordless
Gtech air ram
Hoover

The shark cordless duo is good. Button is on the top so you can press it with any finger or thumb. Might be worth checking the actual weight of each hoover though.

Has she considered a roomba type hoover?

I've got a Morphy Richard's one. Only cost about £40 from Watt Brothers and the switch stays down

Brilliant suggestions, thank you all, I will investigate them.
I don't think she'd cope with a Roomba ItsABubbleParty, she'd be too worried about a machine moving around on its own. (I, on the other hand, am seriously considering one!).

The shark one you just press the button once and don't have to use a trigger

Love my GTech cordless. It's very light, and fairly quite.

I hoovered the dog with it the other day. It's so quiet, she doesn't try and kill it.

Another one for gtech cordless. I have multiple disabilities, and a cleaner because of my inability. We both love the gtech. It is so light even I can steer it round the room with no effort. My cleaner loves them (I have the stick cleaner and the hand held).lives

If it's good enough for My lovely cleaner, it's better than good enough for me.

I was a bit embarrassed at the amount of shit it seemed to accumulate on the first, second, third, fourth etc using. BUT, yes, it's been brilliant

Shark is light and has a very good cushioned button, also the costumer services are excellent.
If anything goes wrong within 5 years (which ours did) we had the new part the next day no questions asked!
Wouldn't go back to Dyson ever.

I have a vax cordless, my friend has a dyson used hers first, couldnt stand the having to hold the button constantly gave me finger ache let alone anyone with arthritis! So I researched and got a vax it's great can do my fairly big house top to bottom before it needs charging again and loads cheaper x
