Hi all, I'm kind of posting here for quick traffic!

My little boy is 6 weeks old. He has had a rash on his back and face since yesterday but it does go away when pressed with a glass. It seems to have cleared up slightly on his back today but is now on his chest a little bit. He gets very hot easily so I've put it down to heat. However a few things have me worried.
He is very unsettled this morning, grunting and straining constantly. Can't sleep and is unsettled for feeds (bf) so I haven't managed to give him a full feed yet. Every time I feed him he fusses and then seconds later he throws up clumpy milk sick (sorry tmi but it's not just the normal milk spit up).

Do you think it's worth a trip to the doctors? I rang earlier and they said only medical emergencies but she didn't take any details about DS. Obviously I don't want to waste their time on what is probably nothing but at the same time I don't want to miss anything!

Go get him checked but sure all is ok sounds like my daughters reflux symptoms as it can seem like a cold too, reflux can make them cough and very snotty and bring their little legs up, my daughter is on ranitidine and is so much better shes not sick at all now. Get the rash checked though (daughter had spots on face and neck but was just neonatal rash) xx

How's your little one today ?

worriedfirsttimerpfb · 12/08/2019 12:14

Thanks for asking @Bluemascara4 :-) he's better but still not 100%

We went to the gp who decided as ds had a dramatic entrance into the world, was being sick and was a bit 'floppy' he should go to the hospital. The doctor there thought the rash was just a viral thing but he could have pyloric stenosis so he had bloods and some other tests done and was observed for dehydration. 7 hours later that was ruled out and they decided it was a stomach bug and he could come home as long as we kept on top of his feeds. So basically I've been offering him my boob every two mins 😂 but he's much more cheery today and alert :-) thank you all for the advice :-)

These threads annoy me. Instead of asking Dr Mumsnet (whose reaction will vascillate wildly from nothing wrong to he’s about to expire) just ring the doctor will you?

NoSauce · 12/08/2019 13:27

The OP did ring the doctor and has taken him to hospital where he has various tests and observations. These threads bug you? Not as annoying as people reply before reading the thread eh.

Invest in a quality thermometer. You will need to use it a lot in the future

worriedfirsttimerpfb · 12/08/2019 14:20

@zzzzzzzz12345 I'm not going to apologise for asking people's opinions before I ring the gp and potentially be overreacting and take the appointment of someone who needs it more. I'm a first time parent who was asking the advice of other parents 🤷🏻‍♀️ But hey maybe you never ask advice from anyone.

@NoSauce thank you :-)

@Blondebakingmumma ha we have one (he did have a temp) and now it is settled which is great :-)
