To really dislike bouquets that include lilies?

They stink, the pollen stains and they’re poisonous to animals.

But of course if someone sends you flowers, it’s impolite to say actually I can’t stand lilies.

AIBU to say never send anyone a bouquet with lilies unless you know they actually like the (vile) things?

My light grey sofa now has bright yellow pollen stains after the five year old ignored repeated warnings to not go near the horrible flowers 💐

I think they look beautiful but they are fuckers for staining. Asked my DP to dispose of the dead ones the other day and he got the pollen all over his new white shirt. Oops! He won’t be sending me an arrangement with the little blighters ever again.

YANBU lillies stink like funeral homes and death. That the stains Blergh!

Ugh the smell! They’re beautiful to look at though. From a distance so I don’t have to smell the rotten stink And I have cats, so they’re banned in this house. Although I was at the vets the other day and they had an advert about lilies being toxic - I thought it was just the pollen that was bad, but it’s everything, even the water they stand in becomes toxic stinky toxic fuckers can sod off!

If someone who doesn't know I dislike them sends me a bouquet containing them I immediately out the stamens.I can tolerate them then if there are other flowers with them.Just about.
All my family now know they are the only flowers I would never choose.And DH now specifies no lilies if he buys buys me flowers.

I love lilies, especially longi or stargazers. Laughing that a pp thinks they are a cheap filler.

They're one of my favourites. My Mum is a florist, and she taught me to remove the stamens as the lillies start to open - that way they're hard enough just to pull off and they don't leave any staining.

Longhi lillies are an amazing scent, I put them in my dining room and leave the door open so it scents the whole house.

Yanbu to like what you like. I personally like lillies tho am careful where I put them as they do stain. My mum said they were for funerals so I wouldn’t buy them for her.
