Starting a new job just occured to me I won't have a uniform anymore lol Do people have a "work wardrobe" and a "home wardrobe"? I have to be smart but not overly formal so the lines between work and my everyday clothes would blur a bit. To add to the mix in tallish and a size 20 (trying to work on that bit) and on a limited budget. Do you you get that "off work" feeling that same as you do when your peel your uniform off ? Help please I really wish I was more girly/fashionable/felt less grossed out by how I look.

I have some formal work stuff, some casual stuff and a whole load of stuff in between

My best go-to is a number if blazers / jackets which I can chuck over jeans and a cami or over a smart work dress.

In terms of sizing, I’m not sure what size they go up to but mango has some fantastic basics in terms of blazers.

Would you feel better if you went on a healthy eating / exercise regime with the reward being some nice additions to your wardrobe?

Sorry, missed the bit where you said you’re already on it Flowers

I have quite specific clothes for work, and never overlap work stuff with home clothes (although both groups are probably similar) so that I feel like I'm me when I'm home, not a teacher.

Zara does lovely basics and knitwear, H&M does fab camis, vests and tees, and Gap do great ankle-length work trousers that I live in. I'd find a bit of a colour scheme you like and stick to that; mine always tends to be navy, cream and shades of pink simply because they're the colours I suit and because they're easy to put together. Tu at Sainsburys can be a little hit and miss but I've had some nice work blouses from there over the years.

Congratulations on the new job, too. You clearly made a positive impact at your interview, so go easy on yourself with all the self-hate about your size; you did something brilliant in getting the job.

I was coming to suggest Tu at Sainsbury’s as well, also don’t rule out Asda for tops. The one near me seems to change their collection quite often.

God you're all so lovely, have had a very tough 2 years with illness (hense the job change im now quite disabled and couldn't do my old hours and a PT job desk based I perfect not ready for the "scrapheap" yet!!) and home life so it's time for me now Never think about sainsburys for clothes might be worth making the trip. A capsule colour pallette is a fantastic idea also helps with the morning decisions too. Sometimes i wish I was a man black slacks and a shirt would be soooooo much easier lol

Well done on the new job. Another vote for supermarket for work clothing. I have trousers in navy, black and grey. Then a variety of tops. I’m size 16 and 5’9, and usually find clothing to fit. I would rather save my money for better quality non work clothes. And it saves hassle in having to think what to wear.
