Colleagues rating/joking about rating most and least attractive people in our workplace. Think the least bit is what I find meanest! We are lawyers btw I don’t work in a secondary school Confused

Sounds like a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen. You work with a lot of fucking stupid lawyers.

They need to grow up. That would annoy me. So bitchy and high school. Just ignore them. They sound immature and bored. Surely they can think of better conversation topics. No point in calling them out on it. They sound mean and dont think it would get you anywhere. Ignore and rise above op.

If you have a single brain cell in your head you will distance yourself from this fuckwittery completely.

I’ve ignored/laughed it off and made no comment but it’s really made me question what kind of people I work with!

You would think lawyers would know better.

Similar happened in my office many years ago. There was a lot of banter, some of it fairly outrageous.
One day there was a sort of office competition, can’t remember the details now.
One of my male colleagues said “and the winner gets to sleep with Pippa!” Pippa was a pretty young girl. Most people laughed including Pippa herself. Then my teammate piped up “and the loser gets to sleep with Papergirl!” And then said it again because he thought he was so fucking funny.
Can’t remember everyone’s reaction, a few chuckles
I think. I probably laughed it off myself. But it stung to be the booby prize, to be considered the office dog.
I left there about 15 years ago but have thought about that a few times lately and it is still painful now.
Times have changed since then and I’ve matured and I like to think I’d say something now but maybe not because it’s embarrassing and also you don’t want to show it hurt.

How awful!

Sorry you have to spend your day with such assholes...

You should start a new conversation about judging your ownattractiveness...
Bet they'll be wanting...

mrsglowglow · 06/08/2019 21:36

urghhhh I've worked in this sort of environment years ago and thought in this day and age it wouldn't happen. It's awful and hurtful as there's always some poor sod who gets picked on. I was young and too scared to pull people up on it. You'd think a gaggle of lawyers would know better but I bet the culture starts from the top down. I sympathise.

Just tell them not to put it it writing. And also that the SRA are hot on sexual harassment complaints right now. It could cost them their career.
