AIBU to suspect SIL is lying about broken foot

Last Wednesday my SIL told me she had broken her toe. This morning she arrives at my house (with her kids) and is sporting an ankle boot/brace claiming she has broken her foot. I am now expected to look after her kids and wait on her hand and foot. SIL has form for being a pathological liar. I suspect she's lying as my sister is adamant she saw her at the train station on Friday evening in heels! I'm tempted to call her out but my PIL's get very touchy when SIL is accused/called out. Also, they're only here for a couple of days and I've spent a fortune on food and just want an easy life.AIBU?

When I broke my foot I wore exact that boot, no surgery, no cast. I suspected I had broken a toe. I don't think she's telling porkers

Oh yeah thisnamechanger you've reminded me, I was about 7 miles into a 10 mile race when I got my second stress fracture - still carried on. Changed my gait somewhat and then couldn't move once I stopped, but I finished!

I was running it for the Brittle Bones Society too so couldn't really cry off 😂

I broke my ankle a couple of years ago and went straight into the air cast thing. It was from toes up to my knee. I queried why I didn't have a plaster of Paris cast and was told that it was too swollen and that if they put a cast on and it continued to swell it would be too tight and affect the circulation in my toes. They said that if they put one on later and the swelling went down( it was black and blue and like a balloon) that the cast would be too loose and the bones wouldn't set because they were moving. The boot did the job and came off six weeks later.

Oh dear, there's some really awful jokes to be had there. You seem to have a good sense of humour but I don't know you so I shall refrain, and I'm sure you've heard them all before.

why can't she look after herself and her kids despite it?
SIL is currently on a sunlounger diet coke in hand. Apparently, it's too painful to stand right now. It's clear she's had at least 1 glass of wine and a cup of coffee. I'm assuming she's made multiple trips.

Send all the kids over to her with the promise she'll read them as many books as they being her 😂

I'm currently using a boot like that for a badly sprained ankle and I had (the same ankle) a broken ankle in May 2018 and refused a cast. I could weight bear (with huge limp) and as a single parent with MS who hasn't the strength for Crutches/frame and a 3 storey house - a cast for 6 weeks was simply impossible and would've resulted in me being admitted for the duration and my child in care!

I'm sure I'll get some funny faces from those who think I am/was being dramatic but it's actual fact. Some of us really don't^ have anyone to give help/support.^

Anyway, I digress... Yes, she absolutely could have the boot for a break. Also, when I was given mine, they said as they cannot re-issue the boots, I was advised to keep mine once my break healed and my god I'm glad I did! It's been a godsend with this bad sprain

God I wish I'd had something like that when I last broke my toe. I know it sounds pathetic but it was white, screaming agony so, so painful. Worse than childbirth and I had 2 very difficult labours.

Just to add that while I honestly don't think she is likely to be lying about the foot, she is being quite unreasonable in parking herself on you and expecting that you should look after her and her kids, especially without any sort of discussion in advance.
