in response to the other one decrying this beautiful city as a 'stinking hole'??

I'll go first:

it's a really lovely, easy to get around city. Hills on one side, lough on the other - gorgeous

people - they can't help but talk to you. Super friendly.Like really, really friendly.

Food - from the food at St George's Market to Deanes, Molly's Yard to Coppi, Made in Belfast to Boojums. There's seriously good food, reasonably priced and lots of locally sourced ingredients.

The craic, and the music, and the craic - You can go to a bar that's near 500 years old (Whites Tavern) or the one's that are a mere 100/200 years old all within walking distance of each other. You can see live music, hang out with the locals, and enjoy the fact our standard measures are larger! The Sunflower, The Spaniard, Laverty's, - classics. Perch, Muriels, new and fabulous.

Titanic Museum - Titianic Studios - GOT - the entire quarter - all brill.

W5 - awesome science experience.

Anyone else?

Ach this is a real feel-good thread!

Belfast is my adoptive home, Ive seen it grow and evolve over 30 years. I love it to bits, its quirkiness, and realism, and humour, and honest history, and its openness to visitors. You're all welcome!

I absolutely love Belfast. It's my home and is never live anywhere else in the world.
My favourite thing has got to be the humour that only fellow Beal Feirstians could understand.

'Aye yer ma' is a perfectly reasonable response to anything really.
'Yer da sells Avon' see above
'Does yer ma know yer da'
'Jesus Mary and joseph'
'Turn off the big light'
You live in constant fear of the consequences of leaving the immersion heater on.
Your dad knows pretty much everyone. As a teen, no matter where I went, I was warned by my dad 'I know the man who works there. I've phoned him and he's going to be watching you'. This meant that I lived in fear of the 'man' seeing me smoking / drinking / generally misbehaving! So i never put a foot wrong.

Names for people like 'Gerry Applegoat' or 'paddy juke the moon'

If you made a new friend who your mum didn't like, she would look for any reason to give off about her.
'I don't like the look of her' (let's call her Julie) then when you have back cheek or did something bold, your mum would say 'I'll fuckin Julie you!' Or she would randomly start calling you Julie. 'C'mere here you Julie till I tell you something'. Then if you were really bold 'away on round to Julie's ma and give her that cheek'
Wtf mum??!!

Belfast is an absolute geg I love it!

I'm a bit late to this thread but just wanted to say that we've just come back from a few days in beautiful Belfast and had the most wonderful time. Titanic museum was just mind blowing and my son loved W5. What an amazing place, would definitely go again!
