AIBU to be so worried about hangover/permanent damage

I was out on Saturday, an all day (and night)session. I don't drink very often but when I do I drink far too much. I won't drink much for ages then have a big blow out every couple of months. This was Saturday and I still feel crap today. I'm so worried that I've permanently damaged myself and I'm so scared of getting breast cancer through drinking too much. So... AIBU for being so worried about this level of drinking?

Binge Drinking is never going to be good for you, but I doubt any permanent damage has been done from one session. You sound a little anxious? I get terrible anxiety after drinking for up to a week. My hangovers also last 2/3 days. I maybe have a drink once a year now- it’s just not worth it.

You're not going to get breast cancer from a one off drinking session.

Do you have health anxiety? It's a big jump from post booze anxiety to cancer.

Elliebellbell · 05/08/2019 14:01

It won't permanently damage you.

If you get this stressed out after drinking I suggest you stop.

Of course YANBU, this is a perfectly rational way to respond to a hangover. You’re lucky to be alive OP Hmm

Beer fear is the worst. I'm like you, I drink way way too much on the rare occasions I go out and I pay for it for days after. You won't have done any permanent damage unless you do it all the time. Drink plenty of water, get a good sleep and chill.

yabu. stop drinking, you clearly can’t handle hangovers

Anxiety after drinking is horrible. If you can, watch something calming and eat lots if carbs. It will pass. Brew

Your body will bounce back, it’s not possible to get breast cancer from a big night out. But it might be a good idea to cut back your drinking as it isn’t good for you regardless, and clearly the aftermath causing a lot of stress and anxiety.

Is there a correlation between binge-drinking and cancer?

If there is and you have GAD you need to stop binge-drinking.

Actually you need to stop binge-drinking anyway.

Welcome to getting older 👍

Stop binge drinking if you're concerned about the link between alcohol and cancer. Note cancer in general not just breast cancer.

IamWaggingBrenda · 05/08/2019 16:22

I would be concerned about your health generally if you are drinking too much. There are definitely health risks involved, damage to liver, for example, and there does seem to be a correlation between excessive alcohol consumption and cancer. I don’t think you need to worry excessively, but get the facts from your doctor and work on a healthier lifestyle if you’re worried about cancer. I’ve had it, and it’s not fun, especially chemo.

My hangovers last 3-5 business days
