To cancel my gym membership.

In the belief that I can keep up my exercise routine at home and I won’t become a couch potato.

At the gym I do; Pilates, yoga, weights, swimming and I love the steam room.

At home I can use YouTube yoga, use my body weight/ light free weights, go cycling, long walks.

My friends would say I’m a bit of a gym bunny, so this is a big decision Wink

If you are using the gym then I don’t see the reason to give it up.

I lost a lot of weight and got very fit purely through exercising at home a few years ago - I did HIIT workouts and yoga from DVDs, hiked at weekends and used an exercise bike. I didn't set foot in a gym once - so it can be done.

I think it really depends what sort of person you are, though. I actively preferred working out at home because I used to be very self-conscious exercising in front of others, and I don't drive so a gym would have been awkward to get to. But I think for some, getting out of the house and being in the gym is part of what they like about exercising - plus if swimming and steam rooms are a treat for you, you obviously won't get that from home. It really depends on you!

You could cancel and see how it goes and then rejoin if you find exercising at home isn't for you?

It is purely cost. I definitely could keep it going but now that I’m a single parent, if feels like an unnecessary luxury.

I’m happy to do an hour or so of exercise at home and I’m very motivated, so not going to the gym wouldn’t make me lose my motivation.

Also, it might be nice not to see all the hot 20-somethings in bikinis anymore Grin

An unnecessary expense or something you enjoy that is important to you? Keep the gym membership.

If you are a single parent and it is affordable then I would think it is an expense worth paying for.

You are taking on a lot and to have those minutes in the steam room or a swim just on your own can be a little luxury you need
