Sorry if aibu isnt rhe correct place , it gets alot of traffic and I'm desperate .
I had surgery this week - a tfmr and I was discharged yesterday. Yesterday before I came home I mentioned to the doctor that I have a slight pain on my right side below my ribcage. He said he would check my meds.
When i got home, the pain has just become worse. Last night was bad. I cant sleep at all on my right side or take in a deep breath. I feel very bloated but I haven't been to the loo since Wednesday (possible constipation). Does anyone know if this sounds familiar after surgery.
I will be calling the hospital soon for the doctors details and try get a hold of him. In the mean time , anyone?

Am so sorry, a quick Google told me.

I was going to say that what you describe sounds much like gallstone pain.

As someone suffering gallstones and microlithiasis I'd think you need to get to A&E for pain meds, ultrasound, x-ray and maybe specialist MRI (MRCP), and a surgery date if confirmed. I'm not joking now, gallstone pain can rapidly accelerate to excruciating. Any nausea?

I called my doctor now. He said that its gas from the surgery that takes a week to be absorbed. He said I need to go for physio tomorrow. And advised me to take a laxative.

During surgery gas is pumped into the abdominal cavity so the surgeons can see better. This can cause acute pain for a week or so after surgery. Your Dr is probably right but if you're still so sore after 5 days I'd go back.

Try peppermint tea or cordial it can help with trapped gas. When i worked on a surgical ward we'd give it to patients to help relieve their discomfort.

I was also going to say gas, this happened to me after an op, I couldn't sleep on that side. Peppermint is good to ease the symptoms. Feel better soon x

Just to update, it seems as if it was air trapped from surgery. I went to the physio who worked on that area and feel a bit of release.
