It’s driving me mad, I can demolish a 200g bar every evening. I know it’s unhealthy but I just don’t seem to be able to stop ☹️

I did the same as yesqueen, I do a low carb diet mainly in the week and eat what I want at weekend. I used to be able to eat a sharing bag of buttons,/maltesers etc but after about 4 weeks I started to find them too sickly. I stopped craving massively sweet stuff at weekends.when I was 'allowed' it and started to eat small amounts of dark chocolate which satisfied the need for chocolate . For me denying something completely just makes me want it all the more. By cutting out sugar in the week but letting myself have it at weekends over time I didn't want it when I could. It didn't happen overnight but I.didn't give up if I had a bad day and age loads.

craving chocolate can be a symptom on a magnesium deficiency, go for 70% or higher dark chocolate, foods rich in magnesium and a supplement x

BizzzzyBee · 02/08/2019 23:40

Stop buying it. Brush your teeth after dinner so you can’t eat anything else.

YesQueen · 03/08/2019 01:01

I get it definitely. I can't have cake, chocolate or Pringles in the house. And I've been eating like a twat the past 6 months Blush
Which is why like I said upthread I'm low carbing
It's been a week and the panic/binging around food has gone, I don't really get hungry and I'm not rooting in the cupboards for something to eat. Plus I get to eat butter, bacon, cream and cheese which makes me happy. Oh and 6lbs lost so far
I need to realise I just can't eat some stuff as it triggers me to binge, bread is another thing I have no control around

Another vote for cold turkey OP. It's the only thing that works for me, the longer I don't have it the less I want it, IYSWIM. I think the same applies to junk food too. Good luck

Nomoremilk · 03/08/2019 01:37

Following. I'm lactose intolerant and still eat it every night knowing ill have tummy ache.

73kittycat73 · 03/08/2019 01:49

I'm the same and I'm a type 2 diabetic...I mostly have it in the early hours. I suffer with terrible insomnia and the only thing that works to get me to sleep, 95% of the time is to get up and eat chocolate. Sad
Is HFLC doable as a vegetarian?

When I was pregnant, I developed GD and had to go cold turkey on chocolate. Everyone who knows me knows I am chocoholic and to begin with, I did struggle a lot. But after a week or so, I began to realise that my chocolate eating was so much a comfort/habit thing. I would always get a craving for it at the same time or doing the same thing - like it had been part of my routine. You can do it. Once you break that cycle, you're set.

Tigerwhocamefortea · 03/08/2019 05:51

Go on holiday to America for a week. Their chocolate is awful!

CupoTeap · 03/08/2019 06:03

Anything to break the cycle- a bath for example

This is terribly unhealthy but a friend of mine kicked her chocolate habit by forcing herself to eat, I think 8 200g bars in one sitting. She felt so,sick afterwards it put her off chocolate for life (well, so far!)
