To need a bit of wet with my dry (food)

I love pizza. I would say it's my favourite food but only with mayo or garlic sauce. I would rather not eat most food if there is no wet with it. Even an omelette I would need mayo or cream cheese.

Chips need ketchup, Tuna needs salad cream or mayo.

We are away on holiday and my husband thinks it's unreasonable that I checked if a pizza shop had sauce or otherwise I just would not enjoy it.

Also I used to live in Berkshire for a few years they didn't sell the pots of garlic sauce from the takeaway that they do in County Durham. I don't know if this has since changed.

Even salad I need some sort of liquid on it or any meat . Not chicken I don't really eat it.

Am I just weird. My husband think so.

Salad isn't wet unless you add lots of dressing - which I do.

ShirleyPhallus · 02/08/2019 12:02

Chips without ketchup just doesn’t bear thinking about

Pretendapony · 02/08/2019 12:14

I hate dry food, I always like lots of sauce! If we eat out I always ask for extra gravy/custard etc!

KUGA · 02/08/2019 12:15

I am the same.
Cannot eat without some sort of sauce or gravy

hellhavenofury · 02/08/2019 12:22

I am with you OP - I literally have mayo with everything - Chinese, indian, cheese on toast, a roast, a curry!! If a restaurant didn't have mayo I would definitely not go back but I have been known to take my own!!

monkeysox · 02/08/2019 12:24

Yanbu op.
(from Co Durham too)

monkeysox · 02/08/2019 12:24

I wouldn't need mayo with Chinese or India. Tho as they have sauce

SweetNorthernRose · 02/08/2019 12:53

@HostofDaffodils ffs I don't think anyone is saying they survive solely on pizza and sauce! But there's nothing wrong with enjoying that every now and again of that's what you fancy.
Can't believe pp saying that salad counts as 'wet' Hmm ...maybe if it has a dressing on it!

SpoonBlender · 02/08/2019 12:55

The entire purpose of sauces/gravies/condiments is flavour enhancement (although often by being full of salt and sugar, which isn't ideal), so naturally they'll make things tastier. (I'll skip the long argument about whether overstimulating taste buds is a net down side vs getting more subtle flavour detail from not eg adding ketchup)

Dry stuff, yes, you need moisteners of some sort or they're just straight up hard to eat.

On the other hand, if you need extra wet in your pizzas and omelettes then you're overcooking them!

SpoonBlender · 02/08/2019 12:57

Holy crap hell - you do know you're effectively just spooning salted lard onto your food, right? Just checking - as long as you're aware, carry on (you pervert)!

Loopytiles · 02/08/2019 12:58

YABU, and can understand why your H was irritated by the pizza shop thing.

Pizza already has sauce, the tomato sauce!

Loopytiles · 02/08/2019 12:59

Plus, lots of the condiments you mention are very high calorie/fat.

Memyselfandeye · 02/08/2019 13:00

Yes!! I can’t think of a single food that isn’t improved infinitely by some kind of sauce.

Spare a thought for me....I ran out of gravy just as I sat down for a roast last week.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 02/08/2019 13:01

I can't abide a dry dinner.

cwg1 · 02/08/2019 13:04

The proper wet for chips is vinegar Grin

AwfulFuckingHair · 02/08/2019 19:25

I'm with you. I put mayo on almost everything

Evilmorty · 02/08/2019 19:46

Salad is predominately water. Most sauces are predominately vinegar or oil. So salad is wet.

berryhead2013 · 02/08/2019 19:54

I'm with you OP pizza defo needs garlic mayo every time no exceptions
