A person on Gumtree is selling a dog for £100, this is obviously a terrible idea and a rescue or something is the best step forward.

From her description/messages she clearly doesnt care too much about the dog and it looks like it is living outside.

RSPCA are useless and don't care if dogs are outside as long as they have food and water etc.

I'm worried about the animal but can't afford the £100 to pick him up, I don't want to annoy her and she ends up just dumping the dog.

Is there any rescues or charities that help with this sort of thing? Looking for any advice.

Also I wasn't looking for a dog on gumtree i was looking for a dog seatbelt and this poor thing came up!

Sent her some rescues that will take him and I offered to collect him and foster him until he is re-homed (through a rescue) and no reply and she was replying instantly before.

She won't respond, because she wants money for the dog & doesn't give 1 shiny shit about his welfare.

The only way you are going to be able to get the dog from her is to find a way to borrow the £100. It stinks, & so does the gumtree seller.

I actually - in my naivety - had an ad to rehome a foster ddog on Gumtree (then after input on here got him a place in a shelter) - I had a suitable man get in contact, asked all the right stuff, gave good answers and seemed keen but not desperate - kept in touch for a week or so, I had a bad feeling though.

Googled his name and he had actually been prosecuted for animal cruelty! Ddogs neglected and 3 horses starved to death...
Felt disgusted and panic striken that I could have made such a mistake with poor ddog! I was sent messages of warning about ddogs getting bought cheaply or free for ddog baiting.
A world of horrors out there.

Good luck on your quest op, I fear it won't be easy.

Well done for trying to help! It's really upsetting seeing dogs being sold like used toys. There is a charity in my area that helps but only dogs local to my area and I don't think they would buy it. Most charities don't have the funds as it would be never ending if they started doing that. It's very sad

Good for you for trying to help OP!

Find the local rescues on facebook, message them - my local rescue has helped a number of these type if cases, particularly as baiting is popular in my area. They may be able to step in and purchase the dog. My own dog was for sale and a local rescue bought him, then I adopted.

The rescue are calling me back around 9am so now so i'll let you know how they got on. Fingers crossed!

Well done for trying to help Thanks

I couldn't find your dog on gumtree though there's loads of dogs for sale for £100 Sad

It's so upsetting

Rescue were successful and the dog is now safe, apparently the Lady was very vulnerable and once they went through what can happen to dogs sold on these sites she surrendered the dog.

People just need to be more aware of what can actually happen!
