Wedding present help!

Posting for traffic!

Looking for wedding present ideas for friends of ours who are getting married in a couple of weeks. They've got a great dane so an overnight stay in a spa (my go-to gift Sad) isn't an option.

Hive mind! What are your recommendations? There's a group of us so budget could be around £350. What do dog people do? Not sure they'd leave the dog as it's not quite a year old. They also live in a flat (with the great dane Shock) so garden presents are a no-go.

Help!

A night in a dog friendly hotel?

Pipandmum · 30/07/2019 20:31

Well there’s kennels, friends, dog sitters... I have two dogs and it doesn’t stop me going away! Presumably they are going on a honeymoon after all?

BeanBag7 · 30/07/2019 20:35

The spa weekend plus some money in an envelope labelled "for (dogs name) to have a holiday too!" Or something, to show you've thought about the dog.

Or a day trip somewhere so they dont have to leave dog overnight.

AlmostAlwyn · 30/07/2019 20:35

Don't think they will be doing a honeymoon! At least, not this year...

I would book them a lovely weekend in a dog friendly cottage that's close to a village pub and great dog walks! You could get somewhere decent for £350 if it's outside the school holidays. Lakes/Peak District/seaside.
Some of the main cottage hire companies such as Sykes and www.holidaycottages.co.uk do gift vouchers, which will enable them to choose their own date/cottage.

This what kennels are for.

National Trust memberships if they’re into that sort of thing? Smile I take DDog to the dog friendly ones

www.goodwood.com/stay-dine-relax/the-goodwood-hotel/

If you're anywhere near Chichester, The Goodwood is amazing and allows dogs!

6 bottles of really good champagne with a blank parcel tag tied to the neck. In the card write that they are to use them to celebrate joyous moments and to write the date, the reason, (and the friends with whom they celebrated) on each label. They can either keep the labels in an album/drawer somewhere or tie them to the cork and display on a mantle piece etc so they can refer back to their moments of joy. It’s lovely to know you’ve got champagne for reviewing wedding photos, first anniversary, new job, new home etc and even better to look back at joyous moments when life is a bit tough and you need a boost.

I love that luggage label idea.

AlmostAlwyn · 30/07/2019 21:08

I love that champagne cork idea! I'll bank it for the future, thanks!

Unfortunately, in this case though, she's allergic to alcohol... Sad

They can't afford a honeymoon and they live in a flat with a great dane... it sounds like they'd probably appreciate the money in an envelope tbh! Why not let them spend it on something they actually need?

AlmostAlwyn · 31/07/2019 17:37

Thanks for the suggestions so far! Much appreciated! Hopefully we'll be able to find something they'll like! :)
