Dried onion

Trying to find this in shops is driving me insane - is it really such a difficult thing to want? I can get it online, but postage makes it very expensive. Does anyone buy this, if so where from please? and how much does it cost?

I got some of the ones you put o top of a salad from Morrison's...You can often get them in Asian supermarkets as well. I'm also pretty sure I've seen them in Tesco

I used to get it from Asda, not sure if they still do it though. I have the same problem with tinned ones, Sainsburys used to to both, but not any more.

Do you mean powder? Easy to get hold of online... google onion powder.
The onion bits that come on salads are also sold in Asda / Morrison’s etc

If you want actual dried onion rather than granules or though crispy salad things, I suggest looking in village shops/post offices. My (admittedly very rural) post office shop has them in boxes alongside the dried peas...

Seconding IKEA if you want the cripy dried things that are amazing on mashed potato. They sell great big tubs of them.

If you mean the type for cooking rather than the salad ones, try searching for Whitworths dried onions. Showing up for me as about 50p box available in quite a few supermarkets. Sometimes seen with brand name Great Scot on the box.

The prymat stuff will be in the 'world foods' aisle or wherever your supermarket keeps European foods.

I buy breadcrumbs from that section because they are always a bigger bag and bogof.

If it's onion powder/granules op then I get them in Asda. Quite a few SW/pinch of nom recipes use this and I was stumped but there it was, in with the usual spices etc.

Interesting - I just found this stuff at Waitrose as well, dried onions that can be reconstituted with water. This is new to me!
