AIBU to want to eat top-notch food on my own?

I've been working my way through a list of Michelin starred restaurants in London, trying to get a booking just for me as a treat for when my DH goes swanning off on holiday without me (whole different thread). I'm coming up empty. They all ask for a booking for two or more. AIBU to want to pig out on an all-evening tasting menu (the kind of thing philistine DH wouldn't appreciate), and drown my sorrows with various posh wines as I wallow in my desertedness? If not, does anyone have any recommendations?

I would suggest booking in advance and explaining that you are on your own and would like an all out nice dinner just for yourself. Generally what they want to avoid is one diner on the table ordering a multi course tasting menu and one ordering a la carte because it ruins the timing. A Michelin place will be doing plenty of degustations so they should easily be able to accommodate a singleton. Are you booking with the restaurant direct or online ? If the latter, do the former - you'll get much better looked after, especially if you are a bit "special" which you will be as a lone lady diner enjoying meal for the pure pleasure of the food.
Another vote for le gavroche, the square is also excellent.

Thank you, Le Gavroche does look extremely tempting! I will contact them and see what they say.
I'm beginning to look forward to DH being away Grin

My dh for work gets to eat at lovely places in lovely scenery with loevly looking people all the time. So when he's gone I treat myself every night to the yummy foods I love to eat. I would love to do Michelin restaurants though!

Look for a Michelin with rooms. They’ll be used midweek by singles away for business and so shouldn’t be an issue. You’ll struggle with a Friday/Saturday night booking though as they will want all table filled to the correct capacity to ensure a smooth flow during the evening. Plus they’re always going to take a table of 2 over 1, it’s all about the margins!

Often they will only offer a single booking early or late, so 5pm or 9pm.

Ring them directly, they should do it

I go to Le Gavroche, Aqua Shard, Galvin at Windows by myself and it’s fine.
