Just asking if any of you have had any of these things? Was everything okay in the end? Were there abnormal cells etc.

I've been referred as an urgent case by my local clinic for a colposcopy and just need to be reassured. The Dr thought it was an ectropioan but said cancer etc needs to be rule out. TIA xx

Exactly the same as raspberryk op but I've now been clear for 14 years. Try not to worry. The screening process really does save lives. Flowers

I'm having my second colposcopy in 4 months on Wednesday, its not a pleasant experience but it's a necessity

I had one over 20 years ago. I was terrified at the time and yes it isn't a pleasant experience. Mine was pre-kids so was first real experience of internal examinations, other than a couple of smear tests. I had to have yearly smear tests for three years after I got the all-clear and have had no further issue.

Yes, cervical erosion back in 2007, treated successfully and no further issues since, clear smears, 2 straight forward pregnancies and healthy DC. Good luck x

I had cervical erosion in pregnancy. When I had the colposcopy you are put in a chair that reclines back and has stirrups. You can watch on the large monitor that faces you. Uncomfortable but not painful and all was resolved

I had a colposcopy in about 2009, after an abnormal smear. The biopsy showed pre cancerous cells so was given lletz (I think), a little burny loop that burnt off the bad cells? Loop diathermy? BlushConfused

I have subsequently had all normal smears and two healthy pregnancies.

Fingers crossed for you OP.

I had cervical erosion back in January, was treated in February all went well with treatment but was very poorly after with an infection but this was due to been 5 weeks pregnant when I had the treatment with no one knowing. All has been well since then and cleared up the problem! Try not to worry the hospital staff where absolutely fantastic with me with been youngish having it done

I've had cervical ectropian for years. It can be a very normal side effect of being on hormonal contraception (or also of giving birth). It's not usually considered all that worrying in the absence of other issues. I've also had an abnormal smear, so I've had 2 colposcopies and bioposies. Neither was a big deal. Results turned out relatively normal each time (one did show abnormal cell changes, which is what had come up in the smear, but those returned to normal in a few years time and I've not had issues since. The 2nd colposcopy was based purely on symptoms - bleeding - and because I'd had the earlier one, that one was totally normal). Cervical cancer is still quite rare and most biopsies don't show up anything too worrying (and even when there is abnormality detected, particularly where it is related to HPV, the body can clear it and cells can return to normal in time).

Thank you all so much, you've reassured me a lot! I'm glad to hear noone had any major issues!
