Please give me some perspective - health anxiety?

I have health anxiety and also worry about DS health too. Both my kids had lots of issues in their first couple of years. DD is fine now but we are still struggling with DS (3)

Basically for the last year or so he has a 5 day episode every 4-5 weeks, when he has a high spiking fever, aches and pains (mostly a stiff neck). His fever goes up to 40-41 but can be controlled by alternating capol and neurofen (doctors advice). He’s generally ok in morning, then the fever starts to climb about 11am and continues to 2-3 am.

The first few times we took him to the GP who prescribed antibiotics due to the on going temperature even though there were no other symptoms. After the 4th epsiode we were referred to the paediatrician but after repeated blood tests they have found no issues. We no longer take DS to GP as it seems the symptoms resolve by themselves by the 5th day.

We were sent away but kept on their books in case of a repeat. DS had another episode and they decided that they next needed to see him when he actually had the symptoms. So we have waited and sure enough DS is having the same issues again. So I called the number I had been given to arrange how DS was going to be seen (I was given the impression that they were serious about this - accessing paediatric services through A&E was mentioned etc, we cancelled our summer holidays to be around for this situation) to be told it was just a normal bout of illness and if I was worried I should take him to the GP.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? I am beginning to wonder if I am making to much of this? I know all kids get ill (and also that in the grand scheme of things his epsiodes are mild - we don’t have to rush him to A&E etc)- but should I be pressing them to take this further?

I would be pushing for answers. They advised you to call them so that they can assess him while symtoms are showing. I would cal back and ask to speak to the pead that saw you or to the unit manager. You have either been given bad advice in terms of them needing to see him again or in terms of what is happening now. Im presuming that you are not a doctor so are not qualified to decide which instruction was wrong. You need some clarification

Thanks, so I’ve called and spoken to them again. They said they’ll get back to me... but he’s already been poorly since Friday PM so if they leave it too long he’ll be better again! Hate just waiting around for calls...
