Kids in economy, Adults in Business ! Is this allowed !

Friend is taking her Grandchildren to the USA to holiday with their Dad. Dad lives full time on West Coast, it’s a long flight.
Granny and daughter/ Auntie have bought Business Class returns for themselves but Dad has paid for the 12 and 14 year old to sit in Economy.
Is this even allowed ? I know BA have ruled that no under 14’s can fly unaccompanied now. I don’t know who they are flying with but l can’t help feeling that this is unfair on the other passengers who will have 2 very lively unaccompanied kids amongst them for 14 hours.

Ferries come in all sizes so we can’t make a true comparison to an aeroplane which is generally the same size.

The Isle of Wight ferry is not the same as the Thames Clipper ferry or the Channel ferry.

fancynancyclancy maybe consider the Caledonian sleeper as a comparison. Kids get a seat, adults get a cabin. It’s all on one level.

How shit would that be for your kids Confused

Oh ok so let’s disregard that point because you can’t argue against it. I may be wrong but an internal UK plane is a very different size to a air bus?

Ive never argued about the disparity in comfort. I just think some of the reasons citing safety & stupid analogies are a little OTT when we are talking 2 teens sitting together. Besides you can’t compare cabins to seats unless BC involves you being in an individual cabin with your own door & roof, it doesn’t!

So they arrived safe and and sound and are having an amazing holiday from the sound of it.The 14 was absolutely fine, he slept. The 12 year old couldn’t sleep and didn’t enjoy it as much, described by Granny as “totally wired.” Granny and Aunty are talking to the airline and may swap a seat on the return if possible. The aim being Granny and 12 year old in business, Aunt and 14 year old in economy. Dad will have to reimburse and pay the difference if it’s even possible.

I wouldn't personally do it. But it's ok. My daughter at 11 is almost as tall as me and tbh she would need the extra space in business class more than me!
