To be annoyed about neighbours

I am being unreasonable, I know I am, but I just need to vent!

I have a DD who turns one next month who naps twice a day and goes to bed between 7 and 8pm.

The neighbours spend all day, everyday, outside.. they chat loudly and play music and fix cars (in the most annoying, loud, throwing metal around kind of way).

It starts at about 9am and ends at about 10-11pm and it constantly wakes her up from her naps and bedtime all the time and I’m just so exhausted and tired but it’s the summer holidays and it’s not their fault I have a baby, and I’m also 32 weeks pregnant so I’m naturally more emotional anyway.

I’m not going to say anything, I know they’re entitled to live their lives, I’m just tired!

Sounds awful OP. Problem is that if they are doing this, they are the sort of people who are inconsiderate and self entitled so are not going to listen if you try to talk to them about it. If they own the house, there’s not a lot you can do but if they rent you can report them to the council or landlord. If you own your home, is it feasible for you to move? I know that might be a bit drastic, but I couldn’t put up with that level of disruption.

I think 10 /11 pm is too late to make a noise working on their car
I'd ask them to keep it down and finish earlier
They may not know they are waking your baby if you have never mentioned it

Sounds awful. My neighbours are the same, except we also have to add in letting their dog out at 2am then shouting for it to come back and sitting outside in cars with engines running, windows open and music on having loud conversations in the middle of the night. It's really stressful and means I'm permanently tired. We did speak to them about it, it got worse x

This is the reason I do the lottery. In the hope one day I have sufficient money so I can buy a house with sufficient land so I don't have neighbours too close by

I would consider getting a white noise machine, you can get a decent one on amazon for under thirty quid. It covers up the external noises really effectively - we have one with our six month old for the same reasons and it's genuinely really good. As soon as it is on assuming moderate volume you just can't hear the crap through the window or wall. Took one day for me to get used to it as thought I preferred silence in the bedroom but immediately started sleeping much better for it! Genuinely relaxing as am now able to switch off the outside world!
