to have considered pulling my own tooth?

Got severe toothache. Can't get to a dentist. Can't take decent painkillers as am breastfeeding. Called 111 6 times since the 16th, no dentists available. Phoned every dentist in my city. I can't look after my son properly. I'm a lone parent who just left an abusive relationship. I'm anxious and depressed and can't cope anymore with this pain. I need help. I even thought about just pulling my tooth out (worked out it's pretty much impossible as it's at the back) but that's how awful the pain is. I don't know what to do. If you had this much pain anywhere else in your body you would be in a&e. I feel like smashing my face against a wall just to distract from the tooth pain.

WWYD if you were me?

My GP prescribed co codamol. Seems every one is different.

hereforit · 27/07/2019 11:48

Plus side is I've lost 1.5 stone through not eating

TargaryenBean · 27/07/2019 11:52

They gave me co-codamol in the hospital after my c section, I was breastfeeding,
so I'm sure it's ok!

nothingtowearever · 27/07/2019 12:07

Where do you live? Is there a dental hospital nearby? They have emergency clinics

nothingtowearever · 27/07/2019 12:09

And it's walk in, they won't be open on weekends but go first thing Monday morning. Do salt water mouth washes to keen it clean and take painkillers

Tryingtoocope · 27/07/2019 12:32

This is going to sound silly but if you dab on some bicarbonate of soda it should stop the horrific pain till you can see a dentist. I don't know how it works but my Mum made me do it when I was on my knees. ( don't swallow it, it's vile)

Tryingtoocope · 27/07/2019 12:35

Just googled it-
Baking soda
It also has antibacterial properties. To use this remedy: Mix 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda with 1/2 cup of water and a pinch of salt. Swish the mixture in your mouth for up to five minutes.

OP this situation is not ok!! You have got to get to a dentist and demand to be seen! Seriously I would get there and make it clear you’re going to be sitting in the waiting room with a very loud baby until you are treated.
Or travel to an emergency dental clinic - you can’t live like this!

hereforit · 27/07/2019 12:42

I found a place that's 2 hours away from me but it's £60 just to be seen, £30 for x-rays then you have to pay for everything else itemised. I can't afford it. There honestly is nowhere that can see me today .

hereforit · 27/07/2019 12:44

I'm using oralgel every 20 minutes and it says not to use it more than once every four hours but I'm beyond the point of caring.

RozHuntleysStump · 27/07/2019 12:52

I overdosed on codeine OP and was so ill with it. Eventually found out about the clinic that’s open on weekends. I saved their number and go direct to that one now. I don’t know what else to suggest for you so just posting that I’m thinking of you today.

hereforit · 27/07/2019 13:13

Awful isn't it. If I put benzocaine on it it helps but I have to constantly apply it. I still can't eat or drink which is hard in this weather but better than excessive pain

OP posts:
PeppermintPatty10 · 27/07/2019 13:53

No you shouldn’t have to travel two hours and especially not with a baby.
For the money, can you beg borrow and steal to get it - from anyone in your family?
For the actual dentist, I was thinking that you could go in and say that a) you’re not leaving until you’re seen, and b) can anyone in the waiting room give up their appointment for you? If I was sitting there waiting for a routine check up or anything non-urgent, I’d gladly give you my appointment! Be aggressive - this is your health!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 27/07/2019 14:46

Not ideal but if you can get yourself to Sheffield there is a dental hospital there that will see you for free. It’s called Charles Clifford Dental Hospital. They deal with same day dental emergencies. You are seen by final year students under supervision from their tutors. They are fantastic. You turn up when it opens and then sit and wait. I know not great with your little one but you WILL be seen same day and it WILL solve your problem. There is nothing worse than toothache.

NuttyOrNice · 27/07/2019 16:13

OP, I've just read you other thread. Surely your Mum or Dad would happily help you with this? I get that money is short but this is an emergency.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 27/07/2019 16:52

Hello everyone
We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong. We strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP – we really hope you get it all sorted soon.

I'm so confused. Why has this been reported?

OP posts:
hereforit · 27/07/2019 17:04

I've just got a bloody toothache and can't get an appointment before the 9th. I'm not after money 🤦🏽‍♀️

OP posts:
hereforit · 27/07/2019 17:15

@nuttyornice my mum has said that she will help me out if I can find private and she can give me £100 towards it which is kind, though I feel bad. Going to try again tomorrow.

claybakefan · 27/07/2019 17:15

I'm confused too. Why the fuck was this reported? This poor woman is in agony and desperate!

Teenagemaw · 27/07/2019 17:19

hereforit · 27/07/2019 17:19

Just to clarify I haven't sent a DM to anybody, and haven't asked anyone for money.

OP posts:
IsobelRae23 · 27/07/2019 17:39

Weed, whilst she is on her own with a baby? Is that the wisest option?

IsobelRae23 · 27/07/2019 17:41

When Ds has toothache the dentist suggestion, dissolvable codeine in water and swishing it around his mouth for a few minutes before swallowing.

hereforit · 27/07/2019 17:55

I'm not actually going to buy weed from my neighbour. Can you imagine that conversation? I was joking
