To worry about this?

I'm 24 years old, and healthy. Good BMI, eat reasonably well, only drink on nights out etc. Me and DP want to start TTC in the coming weeks. There is one worry I have though which I cannot stop thinking about.

I had my appendix out at 14 and I remember the doctors speaking to me and my mum afterwards saying that they saw quite a lot of "stray" blood in my pelvis. They wanted to investigate further but my mum brushed them off. I'd been on my period at the time and had been lying down constantly so she thought the blood just hadn't expelled properly.

It went forgotten about for years but recently I've been worrying. The doctor's clearly saw something out of the ordinary when I was 14. My periods are normal, not too light or heavy. Just right. I also ovulate like clockwork, I can tell as I get a sharp pain on either side. However there is a history of endometriosis in the women on my dad's side. I worry that the blood the doctor's saw was something to do with that.

What do you think?

It may well have been endometriosis, but if you're not having symptoms of it now then I wouldn't worry.

The ovulation pain is called Mittelschmerz and though its painful it is very handy for working out your fertile days .

Have you had a pre-TTC check up at your GP?
And taken your Folic acid?

Maybe mention it to your GP if you're worried .
Good Luck TTC Smile

Go to your GP and tell them exactly what you told us.

@AppropriateAdult So it is possible to have a bout of endo one month and it be a one off?

I think you’re over thinking this to be honest. You had blood in your pelvis 10 years ago at a time when you had appendicitis. You’re ovulating and your periods are normal. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Well, you may have had - or still have - mild endometriosis which isn't causing any symptoms and won't affect your fertility. Or the blood may be related to your inflamed appendix and the surgery you had back then. Either way, if you're now having regular periods without significant pain then it's very unlikely you have severe endometriosis that's going to make it harder for you to conceive.
