To be terminally disappointed with Desert Island Discs

I used to enjoy it but I don't bother listening any more.

John Cooper Clarke was wonderful, great choices and never not entertaining.

I’m old and I wouldn’t choose any classical music because I don’t listen to classical music. I would choose songs that brought back powerful memories and emotions and times of my life. It would definitely include something by Thin Lizzy, a Jim Steinman track because they were the background to my early adulthood, and definitely Alone Again Naturally by Gilbert O’Sullivan because it’s a truly moving evocation of love and loss written in very plain language and conveyed in under 4 minutes. For the flip side of that, A Kiss from a Rose by Seal brilliantly evokes the soaring joy of new love.

To misquote Noel Coward, never underestimate the potency of cheap music.
