Council tax question

Hello, I need to move out of my home for a few months due to ds changing schools. My dh is going to stay in our home and I'm going to stay at my dads house.

Do I need to remove myself off my council tax at my home? I'll be going back at weekends with the dcs but through the week, I'll be living at my dads. My dad wants to put me on his council tax - he lives with his partner and doesn't get single occupancy but he just wants to put me on while I'm living there.

@Kidworries it could be that yes, I've already said we will pay him something towards living costs but I think maybe in his head, he just wants us to feel like we are living there and him adding my way is his way of doing so! So that I'm paying for something rather than just giving him money if you see my meaning!

Don't worry about it. Let him do want he wants. You can still stay on the council tax at your other property. Like i said properties over lap when moving and you normally pay it on 2 properties at some point. With your name on 2 bills. Especially if changing councils. It's really not a problem. Don't take your name off of the rented house. It will be fine. People are quick to judge and accuse. If it makes your dad feel better just leave it be and keep your name on your rented

No worries

Kidworries · 25/07/2019 08:42

The council's hardly going to cause a problem because they are getting their council tax paid ...

Did you put your Dad's place as your residence when you applied for a school place as that might be why he's thinking he needs to let the council know t g at your living there.

Janedoughnut · 25/07/2019 08:49

*that you're

ladders1 · 25/07/2019 09:09

@Janedoughnut yes I did but I don't know if that's why he's thinking that....his mind wouldn't work that way but that's a good point! I'll just let him do it, I was just worried about any financial implications.
