Long story short I’m about 4/5 weeks pregnant 🤯🤗. Nausea and dizziness is an issue (yes I’m taking vitamins 😬) and today have had horrible cervical crampy pains and abdominal pressure.

Went to Dr this aft and he thinks I’m over stressed (obviously fighting morning sickness) and need to ‘properly relax’ and take it VERY easy for a couple of weeks!

I’ve left with a two week sick note and a cyclizine prescription! DH attended with me and agrees with GP fully!

However I feel AWFUL saying this to my boss. Kinda feel like ‘that girl’ who doesn’t want to do PE because she has her period. There are numerous pregnant women in our office and they seem to be managing.

GP (male) actually said ‘I honestly think that’s just a horrible example of the way women are so often treated in the work place’ when I aired my concerns and asked if working from home would be acceptable.

So now I’m stuck between feeling like I’m copping out, (I’ve not exactly got HG - I just feel vile!) and feeling like I’m making an irresponsible choice for my own health/baby.

AIBU to go off sick?
Or AIBU to not listen to GP advice?

  • WFH probably wouldn’t be a soloution as I can’t sleep well due to nausea so If I’m at home I keep nodding off all day! I tried it yesterday and couldn’t focus/ I was either asleep or feeling too sick to concentrate!

Just need some experiences mummy advice - I’m new to this.

My GP wouldn't take me seriously about my nausea and sickness, I somehow managed to work through it and stay hydrated, which in hindsight was crazy and probably damaging for my mental health and not great physically either.

Your GP has taken how you're feeling seriously and has advised you to take time off. Take it and don't feel guilty!

You get no medals for going in despite being sick so why would you? I've gone in after illness/bereavements and it's not that I want recognition I just now realise people dont care either way. There might be a 2 second "who's going to pick that work up" then they'll go back to not thinking about you, dont bother and hope you feel better soon!!
