Anyway, summer lovers ....join me. I’m having a great time. It’s a few weeks, days even a year.

I don't mind, but what does piss me off is that all of the trains from my home area down to Ldn tomorrow are going to be screwed due to the hot weather. So more people packing in to fewer trains in bloody high temps. Angry

alittlerayofsunshine · 24/07/2019 22:12

I do love love love a long hot summer (like 2018,) and this year is pretty ok (maybe a slightly shorter hot summer!!!) But it is a bit HUMID right now. Hard to sleep, and not helped with the bleeping 3 hour long lightning/thunderstorm last night!

I used to work full time in a factory for 6-7 years, and then spent 20 years in offices, (half of it full time, and half of it 3.5 to 4 days a week,) and I wasn't so keen on long hot summers then coz I couldn't enjoy them so much!!! AND it was hot in work.

I only do 2 days a week in the office now though, and do some of my work at home, (and have done this for 5 or so years!) So I do enjoy the nice, hot summers now.

gamerchick · 24/07/2019 22:14

I nearly puked at work today while my feet slid around inside my shoes because the air con isn't working and won't be fixed. I can't agree with you. We get so much cold weather our blood doesn't thin properly in time for this heat.

If I didn't work it would be fine but no, frankly it's hell and I could cry thinking about work tomorrow.

escapade1234 · 24/07/2019 22:14

I like it on the whole. You have to alter what you do and how you live and I appreciate that’s not possible for everyone. I have young children and, whilst the sun cream and hats and worry about hydration are a constant preoccupation, generally it’s wonderful to have so much outdoor fun. I loathe winter and the endless indoor days. Paddling pools and ice lollies take me back to my childhood, eating in the garden and running through sprinklers.

I do appreciate I’m not battling trains and hit offices though. I also have a cool downstairs so somewhere to escape to.

RaininSummer · 24/07/2019 22:16

Yes it's lovely. Don't ache all the time and can come home from work and sit in the yard watching plants grow.

saavi · 24/07/2019 22:18

I agree! I've noticed that the only people struggling in my office are those carrying extra weight.

Havingarethink · 24/07/2019 22:21

Love it so much. It's so short lived and we have to put up with everyone else's fave wet grey shit most of the time, so let us have ours for a bit.

alittlerayofsunshine · 24/07/2019 22:23

@saavi

People who are not carrying extra weight don't seem to be finding the heat any easier than overweight people as far as I can see. Confused

saavi · 24/07/2019 22:26

alittlerayofsunshine
I'm only stating what I have observed irl.

bumblingbovine49 · 24/07/2019 22:26

I love it too. I actually love lying on my bed under a fan. I love the sound and the feel of it. I do get a bit too hot if the temp goes close to 40deg than 30 Deg but otherwise I like it. I don't do much in it though. I pace myself and take.it.easy. I also.work in an office with no air conditioning and after lunch it does get quite warm but it is a small price to.pay for.the long evenings and not being cold all the time

bumblingbovine49 · 24/07/2019 22:27

Oh and I am morbidly obese but still love it

TapasForTwo · 24/07/2019 22:39

"the hot weather lasts such a short time up here in Yorkshire (the bloody nine months of rain a year is why its so green)"

I'm in Yorkshire as well, and am loving this weather, BUT it isn't as hot as London, I drive to work in a car with aircon and work in an office with aircon.

We had an awful June, so it is nice to have some good weather for a change. It is also nice that the weather hasn't immediately turned awful at the start of the school holidays.

It must be vile in London, especially for people living in stuffy flats with no outside space, people who commute on the tube and people who work in offices and other places with no aircon, so they have my every sympathy. Those with health conditions aggravated by this heat also have my sympathy.

NoSauce · 24/07/2019 22:45

Yanbu I love it. Sick of all the moaning about it though, such drama llamas.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 24/07/2019 22:48

YANBU.

Only downside is air con being set to icy!

ilovesooty · 24/07/2019 22:51

I think it's brilliant. We get so little hot weather anyway.

TapasForTwo · 24/07/2019 23:20

True Hunter. I will be taking a cardigan to work tomorrow.

BlueSkiesLies · 24/07/2019 23:56

Bloody love it.

Long light evenings. Fab atmosphere. Everyone outside. Making use of the garden to eat dinner in.

Littlechocola · 25/07/2019 00:01

I love it despite working in a very hot environment. Looking forward to my day off so I can enjoy it

onlyonceortwice · 25/07/2019 00:07

I love it too! Makes me feel like I'm on holiday

TightPants · 25/07/2019 00:09

I was on the Central line a few times last summer at peak time, and could feel the sweat literally running off me!
There is no way I could do that daily. Fair bloody play to those who do.
The day they get air con onto the London Underground can’t come too soon!

user764329056 · 25/07/2019 00:14

Love it too and it’s my birthday today, will be a scorcher!

Clarissa111 · 25/07/2019 01:44

YANBU I wish I loved it though. I hate it!

skybluee · 25/07/2019 02:27

I love it. I was thinking earlier that this is the first day this year where I've felt purely comfortable the whole day, then I felt a bit sad because this country isn't really geared up for the type of weather where I feel well. When I go outside I don't feel unwell any more, this past winter really took a toll, had to go outside every morning at about 6am and was not well so was almost suffering/shaking with the weather. With this, it doesn't matter how early it is, just go out, no need even for a jumper or hoody, just t shirt and jeans, and fine, don't feel unwell.

IAskTooManyQuestions · 25/07/2019 02:32

Weather is wonderful, if you have time to enjoy it. Those of us who work in antiquated old buildings with no aircon, its not so great!
