To want a slush puppie machine?

I've always wanted one. I was never allowed a Mr Frosty as a child (now I know why), but I still want one of these so badly. I've seen small ones for about £50 but I suppose they are crap. I could put prosecco or cider in it and sit in the sun ☀️ does anyone have any of the cheap ones? I know the proper ones are about £500 so that's not going to happen

Doesn't it kipper?!
DH made them last time and he poured an awful lot of salt in?

KipperCuddlingGrimbots · 25/07/2019 12:44

@Fucksandflowers

The salt is there to keep the ice cold. That's all.

If it was in the actual drink you'd know about it!

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 25/07/2019 12:46

We’ve got one, we make vodka/rum slush cocktails in it at our bbq parties. It’s always a hit 😃

Rainsfallandwindsblow · 25/07/2019 12:52

Just to confirm the ice and salt don't go in the drink. The ice & salt goes in the centre part which is separate from the drink. The drink is around the ice and salt but in a separate container. The salt makes the ice colder and starts to freeze the drink.
DO NOT PUT THE ICE AND SALT IN THE DRINK.

Comefromaway · 25/07/2019 12:54

When the metal container developed a pinhole the salt contaminated the drink and beleive me, I knew it, to actually drink more than a sip would have made me sick.. It just reacts with the ice in the container (the ice doesn;t go into the drink either to freeze the drink liquid in the outer part of the machine.

Can you give me the idiots guide to making slush puppies in the blend active.
Is it really as simple as ice + cordial and blend?

MitziK · 25/07/2019 14:37

Yup, that'll do it. But don't add water, just cordial - that's how Slush Puppies taste so strong, it's pure cordial/syrup on ice and it dilutes as it melts.

Gigis · 25/07/2019 14:47

I do a lovely lemon slush - ice cubes in a bag and bash them with a rolling pin, mountains of sugar, a splash of prosecco or vodka if that's your thing, as much fresh squeezed lemon juice as you can handle! Bit more liquid than a slush puppy but really delicious

Arthur2shedsJackson · 25/07/2019 14:53

I e just for one in the Harts of Stur sale for under £15. Haven’t tried it yet but it seems robust and looks good.

CacenCrunch · 25/07/2019 16:39

Thanks for all the suggestions, I guess the easy way it to make my own. I've just been on EBay and ordered 2 bottles of slush cordial for £8.99 (blue raspberry and strawberry), I'm going to smash some ice with a rolling pin then put it into my smoothie maker thing and mix it. Can't wait 😊

Here's a how to guide for making any 500ml bottle of pop into a slushee. It works and kids love having the liquid pour out and turn to ice immediately
