To think newborn babies are weird

I’ve got a 6 month boy and much prefer him now.

When he was born the up all night thing I wasn’t prepared for, then the freaky startle reflex.

I’ve got videos of him with his arms waving everywhere and cross eyes and I get a bit weirded out.

As soon as he started smiling and the reflex went he seemed a lot less scary.

Am I weird ?

I love the way they are so confused looking all the time! I never got any weird pain response though. And I never know what people are on about with the snorting and grunting? Maybe I have very quiet newborns. Mind you I almost always had them on me. I don't really like to put them down for the first few weeks if I can help it.

DS2 was incredible as a newborn as he used to react to everything. Music he would just respond to in a way that made your heart melt. I've got a video of him listening to violin music and it's gorgeous. DS1 I don't remember much except he made chirruping noises which amused me.

I'm emetophobic and the newborn stage was exhausting because of all the puking while eating. She'd sometimes swallow too much milk/air or not know she's full and suddenly projectile vomit over my boob with a loud bleurgh sound effect. The additional laundry was no fun either!

It's so much easier at 6months! I don't mind the occasional small spit-up which is much easier to clean. As least I'm not on tenterhooks during each feed wondering if it'll come all back out any second.

I always loved the little starfish hands!
