To use dh’s role in my job app?

I was reading some of the hilarious job applications in one of the other posts earlier and want to ask... if I reference my dh’s (political) role in an application I’m putting in as background to how our family have always supported a particular viewpoint, is it inappropriate and/or irrelevant or Aibu?

Years ago I interviewed someone who name dropped who their dad was. I didn’t let it impact the interview, but I always remember her as the person who thought a family connection would give her an advantage. It didn’t.

The most I would write down would be something like "Although my formal employment to date has been outside the xxxx sector, I have gained a broad understanding of many of the issues in the sector informally through personal connections, and am confident I will be able to consolidate this knowledge swiftly if I am appointed."

Any kind of influence or favour you might gain from your DHs role would be corruption so that's best avoided, but there's nothing wrong with gaining familiarity with stuff through DH. I am familiar enough with DH's organisation just from conversations over the past 10 years that I would be quicker getting started in a new role there (if I ever wanted a job there) than an entirely 'green' appointee with no such connection. It's a very slight advantage though as most of what I know could be picked up with a couple of days of reading.

"Was deeply involved in my DH's campaign for X, and consequently gained a deeper insight into Y" might wash.

Is that type of phrasing applicable?
