Priority queues at theme parks!

Who does this?! Cause I’m looking and thinking I would be mortified to be the person pushing in front of a 6 year old who has just queued an hour and a half for a ride!!

Are you on about those who pay to use priority queuing?

Because that’s just common sense in hot days

Yeahnahmum · 23/07/2019 16:21

?

Bridget1983 · 23/07/2019 16:21

And I’m obviously not talking about the people with SEN/disabilities - the people who have just paid extra cause they can!

Yes those who have paid - I would be so embarrassed to queue jump like that - particularly in front of children

I save that bit harder to ensure we can get priority queuing and not waste our time in the lines all day.

edwinbear · 23/07/2019 16:23

I do, always. I don't find it awkward or uncomfortable, although I do tell the DC to try and be a bit discreet about it. Personally, we don't go to theme parks unless we can afford to pay for the priority passes (so generally do one a year). I just can't see the point in a day at a theme park when we only get to go on 3-4 rides.

Didiplanthis · 23/07/2019 16:23

But you don't know who has SEN and who has paid. My Ds doesn't have SEN stamped on his forehead but the SEN access pass is the only way we can go to theme parks. The evil looks and muttered abuse we got as the fast entry is the same ruined the day for me....

Soubriquet · 23/07/2019 16:24

Well I’m sorry but if I’ve paid to jump queue, I’m going to use it!!

FlibbertyGiblets · 23/07/2019 16:24

Not something to get het up about. People cut their cloth according.

StCharlotte · 23/07/2019 16:24

I don't know about theme parks/rides but at certain tourist attractions you go to a different entrance altogether so it isn't an issue.

But I always wonder what if everyone buys skip-the-line tickets...?

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/07/2019 16:25

Don’t see the issue. A visit to a theme park is not an essential, if that six-year-old’s parents didn’t want to pay for the priority passes then it’s up to them to explain to their kid that some people chose to but they didn’t.

CloudRusting · 23/07/2019 16:26

It’s not pushing in. Parks like Legoland essentially have different price levels and the people who have paid for priority on rides are where they make the money. If you don’t like it take it up with the theme park.

ALittleBitAlexis · 23/07/2019 16:26

I've never paid because I only go to theme parks off season when it's relatively quiet, but if I went at a busy time I definitely would - it maximises what you can get done in a day.

The only place I've only been to that offers this is Universal Florida, but there it isn't a case of pushing in - there's a different queue and eventually an employee manages a merge. You aren't pushing past people so there's nothing to be embarrassed about - perhaps other parks are different?!

PineappleSeahorse · 23/07/2019 16:26

I don't see the problem. It's a theme park not a queue for the soup kitchen. It's a luxury in itself. If people are willing or able to pay more to skip the queues then why shouldn't they?

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 23/07/2019 16:26

We've done it at Universal LA - was bloody amazing. No pushing - you go up a diff aisle in the queue.

wednesday32 · 23/07/2019 16:27

if I was paying for priority what should I be embarrassed about? It's not pushing in. I would be embarrassed to make a 6 year old wait for an hour and a half in a queue to be honest

dreichhighlands · 23/07/2019 16:27

We have only been to Disney in Florida but we have fast passes, we paid for them because we didn't think standing in a line was a good use of our holiday.
We didn't spend so much on other things.
It is a horses for courses type of thing.
We weren't embarrassed because we didn't steal the passes or misuse them. Others prefer to make different choices I don't feel embarrassed for them either.

Purpleartichoke · 23/07/2019 16:28

Due to my own physical shortcomings, that shorter line is the only way my dd can have these experiences. I don’t feel any guilt in paying for the shorter line when available.

TeenTimesTwo · 23/07/2019 16:29

With the paid upgrade priority passes (as opposed to the SN ones), do you get priority on everything all day, or just one priority per major ride, but still queue for lesser ones?

LookWhosInTheRejectBin · 23/07/2019 16:29

If people can afford to queue jump, then they have every right to do so.

Tbh, you sound a little bitter.

Yeahnahmum · 23/07/2019 16:30

That is NOT pushing in
That is PAYING to get on a ride quicker

Which is NOT pushing in...
Sorry, 6yo, not sorry.Grin

Lazypuppy · 23/07/2019 16:30

Why would you not do priority especially during summer holidays???

Aragog · 23/07/2019 16:30

I would be mortified to be the person pushing in front of a 6 year old

It usually a separate queue so no pushing in front of anyone.

We have had them included in our hotel stay when we've been to Universal Studio in Florida, or we pay for them. Likewise I have just bought them for Japan.

The ones at Disney are free for anyone to get - 3 a day, booked in advance.

I use them to make our day that bit better and to avoid too much queueing. We are fortunate enough to be able to afford them. But we have done our fair share of long queues too. I never felt bad that someone else was able to use the express lanes when I couldn't.

dreichhighlands · 23/07/2019 16:32

At Disney we started everyday day with 3 passes which we could book with our app. It was then usually possible to top up extra fast passes during the day. There was often still a fast pass line but it was shorter.
We used the passes for the most popular rides and just waited for the less popular ones.

EleanorOalike · 23/07/2019 16:32

Never paid to do it but honestly don’t see what the problem is. Seems fine.
