Dream feed 8 week old

I’m just looking for some advice from experienced mums if possible.
First time mum so currently doing my best.
LO is now 8 weeks and her bedtime is usually around 7:30, where she takes around 5oz (bottle fed). Before last night she would then sleep until 11:30, then 3:30, then usually wake up for our day to start around 6:30 ish.
After reading lots of articles I decided to offer a dreamfeed at 10:30 in the hope that she may then go to 3:30, which would allow us a little more sleep. However she woke at 1:30 then 4:30 then 7:30, so it just seemed to push everything back slightly and add another feed.
I know it’s only night one, I’m assuming I need to give it more time? Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice would be really appreciated :0)

I breastfed rather than bottle but I never did dream feeds. I always just let baby wake when they were ready. 8 weeks is still so tiny, I think you are better to let her get into her own sleep routine.

I’ve had a DS who woke every 2 hours from birth to 20 months, and then a DD who woke every 4 hours from birth to 2 months, then started sleeping though 8-6am. Fed and treated both the same, it’s just how they are built.

At 8 weeks her usual schedule sounds fantastic! I wouldn't mess with that. Can your OH stay up to do the 11.30 feed so you can get a decent sleep before having to get up for the early hours one?

I never worked out dream feeds and they didn’t work for us at all.

I too think her natural routine looks great, I’d stick with that!

I've never done dream feeds with either of my children. DS slept through of his own accord early on and we're still waiting on DD to do it consistently at 10 months... we've not done anything differently with either of them.

I'm of the belief that you shouldn't disturb a sleeping baby and that if they're hungry they'll wake for it. Your DD's usual routine sounds good for an 8 week old. She'll sleep for longer stretches in her own time.

Never heard of it being called a dream feed, but we worked our bottles out so every 4 hours, so 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm. Then a night one around 2pm. Then we stretched out the 10pm one to 10.30, then 11am, and made it thicker milk. Before long, we stopped the 2pm one entirely by giving water not milk for a couple of nights, then she stopped waking up for it and sleeping through.

That should have read 2am not pm

The dreamfeed worked really well for my first baby and it meant she slept a solid chunk from 10-4.
However the second one behaved exactly as you describe, it didn’t help at all. I tried a few times but it never did anything other than create more work.
Maybe try a few times and if it still doesn’t achieve anything then just leave it

Dream feeds worked well for both of mine. Cut night feeds from 2 to 1, which is a big help in the early days. Maybe give it another try??

Thank you for all of your replies, it’s really helpful.
I think I’ve decided to let her do her own thing for now, i wasn’t sure I was doing the right thing for her anyway at 10pm last night, then she did a dirty nappy so I had to change her, so it didn’t feel right having her awake when she was so sound asleep. Hopefully she will drop one of the feeds at some point, but I’ll just keep going how we are for now 😃
Thanks again
