Any mumsnetters who live in Gretna Green? Long shot

I am getting married in Gretna Green on 3rd August - yay! However...

We go to Greece on Friday for backwards honeymoon before main event (I know it’s weird, but there are good reasons!).

The hotel in Gretna will store my dress if I courier it - but only folded up under a desk in the office!

I have messaged a bridal shop in Annan to see if they would store it for a fee, but they’re not open until tomorrow so I don’t know if they can yet.

No guests can bring it with them as there are no guests- were having a party for everyone when home.

So just wondering, very long shot, if any kind Gretna based mumsnetter would hang my dress in a wardrobe from Thursday this week or Friday until Saturday 3rd.

Appreciate the oddness of the request but I am worried if I take it to Greece, airline might lose luggage or any manner of things...

I don’t know why I even opened this thread as I am nowhere near Gretna Green, but I guess I wanted to see some lovely rallying together. Not disappointed at all! Congratulations on your wedding OP, and all the best to the very kind people who offered to help. Have a wonderful time and enjoy your well earned glass of champagne Red 🍾🥂 cheers 🍾🥂

How lovely this thread is!!!!!

StinkinDrink · 25/07/2019 12:34

Ah this is so lovely, have an amazing wedding day! And mumsnet guardian, you are a lovely person and really did make me smile today Grin

On a total side note I'm very surprised hotel couldnt hang it for you, even in the office! On a curtain rail or such like maybe...

Groovee · 25/07/2019 12:51

Aww that is so lovely x

CathyTre · 25/07/2019 12:53

I know, originally they said they would hang it but when I rang to confirm, they said they couldn’t! But the dress is safe, and I don’t need to worry about dragging it around Greece, so I’m so grateful! Dress guardian also has my wedding shoes and husband to be’s Outfit, because she is a STAR!

This thread is lovely. It’s always good to be reminded that most people are actually kind and generous, despite what we see in the News and on MN some of the time.

Yay!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love threads like this!!!

Bluesheep8 · 25/07/2019 13:25

What a lovely thread. There are some very kind people still in the world. Faith restoring!

catofdoom · 25/07/2019 13:32

I had to drag my dress half way across America and then across the UK on boats, coaches, planes and trains. I was a nervous wreck by the end of it (and May have occasionally been a psychopath bitch.)

Rivkka · 25/07/2019 13:39

Oh I live this thread. And if that's the mumsnetter's house, I love that too!

MichaelMumsnet · 25/07/2019 13:49

And nominations are open.

CathyTre · 25/07/2019 14:06

Anyone else want to see the dress. Love this thread

Roastedpepperfeta · 25/07/2019 16:20

We stopped at the same hotel and got married at the blacksmith's shop almost 10 years ago. What a lovely thread. Have a fantastic time. Congratulations.

alyaster1 · 25/07/2019 17:03

Hi, I'm the local mumsnetter who is delivering the dress. It's really no bother and I know most of you would do kind favours if you could.
I really don't think I'm doing anything noble however.... I actually think it is the bride to be that is doing something inspiring and showing a faith in humanity.
This lady has entrusted me a total stranger with something very special to her, how awesome is that!!! Her faith in the kindness of people is a lesson to us all. It is a privilege to help you Cathy, you are the lovely person here

HoorayItsTheHolidays · 25/07/2019 17:08

Well I can't help OP, sorry :(

But congratulations!!! I got married in Gretna green 10 years ago and it was the best day of my life (with the possible exception of the birth of both my gorgeous boys in the years following!)

Hope it is a fantastic wedding :) xx
