To have eaten all the tiger bread

IHaventGotAnyStuff · 21/07/2019 19:09

That's it, I've eaten half a baguette. The other half is for DH.

Backstory, I'll try not to drip feed. We're having stew and said baguette for dinner. The stew simmering on the stove. I prepped the bread while DH puts LO down for the night and ended up taking little slices off every minute or so and finishing my portion. DH is still putting LO down.

WIBU to have demolished it? It was tasty and I dont regret a thing

Has he seen it or can you still commit the perfect crime?

NomDeQwerty · 21/07/2019 19:41

YANBU to eat all the tiger bread including your DH's
YABU to serve it with stew
So in that sense, you've done everyone s favour.

Cheeserton · 21/07/2019 19:43

Yes dumplings!

EssentialHummus · 21/07/2019 19:45

There’s a great book (for toddlers) called Nanette’s Baguette - possibly read it to DH?

notso · 21/07/2019 19:46

YABU on two counts.
1.Bread and stew is rank.

  1. Tiger bread is also rank.
justgivemewine · 21/07/2019 19:49

Yanbu just give dh slightly less than half so he doesn’t really notice

Tiger bread is yummy

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 21/07/2019 19:50

notso

Is clearly a goady troll. NO-ONE thinks Tiger bread is rank. It's like saying you can take or leave oxygen, not fussed....

IHaventGotAnyStuff · 21/07/2019 19:50

@NomDeQwerty tbf I do think a discussion about this particular meal has come up before along the lines of the tiger bread being the star and the stew just being an excuse to eat it. This stew isn't that great... but it was batch cooked...

OP posts:
notso · 21/07/2019 19:55

Ooh I've never been accused of being a goady troll before!

I'm not. I just don't 'get' tiger bread. It's just crappy supermarket bread. With a crust that tastes of salty sesame.

NomDeQwerty · 21/07/2019 19:57

But..but...
That's implying that you're dunking the tiger bread into the stew thereby ruining its crispy loveliness with gravy/stew juice. And those 2 flavours definitely don't go together. Ewww

EggysMom · 21/07/2019 19:58

It depends. Asda Tiger Bread - YANBU, it is so light and divine. Tesco Tiger Bread - YABU, it's way too heavy. Anywhere else, I cannot judge!

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 21/07/2019 19:59

Three cheese bread is the best sort, I could eat an entire loaf.

I'd eat some of DH's and pretend I put the rest in the freezer.

notso · 21/07/2019 20:01

...I can eat a load with just marg!

I was wrong YABU on three counts. Marg, also rank.

IHaventGotAnyStuff · 21/07/2019 20:14

@NomDeQwerty YANBU to assume dunkage however I tend to go for the more unconventional spoon of stew, bite of bread school.

@Eggysmom I wasnt entirely accurate. Its technically giraffe bread as from sainsburys although we more often get the tigers tails from Asda! 3 for a pound, cant complain!

OP posts:
ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 21/07/2019 20:31

YWBVVVVU to use marg. Tiger bread is worth far more than some shitty -one-process-away from being plastic crap spread.

Tiger bread deserves proper salted butter. Lashings of it.

Skinandbones · 21/07/2019 20:34

IHaventGot usually from Tescos or Morrisons, love it with everything, just a bit different.

verystressedmum · 21/07/2019 20:37

I'd have eaten dh's bit too as he doesn't need tiger bread.

TheBrockmans · 21/07/2019 20:46

Haven't you forgotten an essential ingredient and need to pop to Sainsbury local and accidentally let some more bread and real butter fall into your basket?

BlueberryFool123 · 21/07/2019 20:50

Tiger bread as others have said is carb crack. So much so I am now cursing it being a Sunday and no supermaket will be open, which is a good thing as I would probably go out and buy some...

Eat all of it and say the fairies took it.

twitterbird · 21/07/2019 20:54

Morrison's are the stockists of the salt and pepper baguette - I dare not buy one for many of the reasons mentioned on this thread...

Onescaredmuma · 21/07/2019 20:56

You are being unreasonable if you didn't finish the loaf and deny all knowledge of said tiger bread (not that I've ever done that Grin)

IHaventGotAnyStuff · 21/07/2019 21:00

Butter definitely would've been better! I'm about to have the remains of a waitrose chocolate trifle to make up for the lack of butter (leftover from a friends visit today... this thread reflects exactly why I cant have nice things to eat in the house)

OP posts:
Josephinebettany · 21/07/2019 21:15

I've never had tiger bread but I intend to buy it tomorrow!

2BoysLoading · 21/07/2019 21:18

This is my kind of thread! Has anyone tried Iceland’s thick sliced tiger loaf? I call it the devils bread - it is so delightful! My mum always has 2 loaves minimum (it’s 2 for £1) on the go. Bread and butter is so simple but ridiculously addictive and feels me with joy

Cakemadeoffruit · 21/07/2019 21:54

Forget the stew. Make up some instant gravy, add a spoonful of mint sauce. Put some Quorn mince in a saucepan add the gravy and heat up. Peas are optional. But use crusty bread as a spoon and scoop up the lovelyness straight from the pan, whilst still on the hob. Fanfuckingstastic.
