If gp's diagnose their own problems or do they have their own gp that they see 🤔

If they diagnose themselves do they then write out a prescription and take it to the pharmacy?

I have always wondered this 🙃

Any gp's here that can enlighten me so I can move on 😁

I'd imagine they would try to diagnose themselves in theory but they can't write prescriptions for themselves. To get any actual answers they may need blood tests or to see a specialist but I imagine they would just have a better idea of which tests they need etc.

i dont know if its true or not but i was always led to believe that a GP and his family have to be registered with another GP and cant self diagnose or diagnose his own family

You’d be fired and lose your licence if you wrote yourself a prescription.

My fiancé is a doctor. He obviously has a better idea of what might be wrong with him or me than a layperson, but he still needs to be registered with a GP for his own healthcare and I have a separate practice for my own. He needs that for blood tests and referrals to hospital if he should require it, and for medication. But yes, he’s more likely to attend an appointment and say ‘I have these symptoms, I believe it could be this, what do you think?’ than to attend without a clue of what the probable outcome might be. He’s also happy to listen to the doctor’s diagnosis and opinion if it doesn’t match his as they may notice things he hasn’t or have more experience in a certain area.
