To ask if you recognise this rash?

Hoping someone knows what this is. I'll make an appointment with my GP tomorrow, but it's usually a 3 week wait and it is spreading to other parts of my body from my shins quite rapidly at the moment. It started in a very small way on one shin this winter. It isn't sore or itchy and doesn't change in heat/different weather.

I showed it to a pharmacist about 4 weeks ago. She didn't recognise it, and suggested trying a steroid cream with antifungal for 7 days. It didn't make any difference, just dried out the skin a bit.

I'm an otherwise fit and healthy 50 year old, taking no medication.
I appreciate any suggestions!

Could it be ringworm?

DianaT1969 · 21/07/2019 12:24

Hi, thanks for looking. That's what I suspected when I went to the pharmacist, but she thought not. If others think it could be, I'll get antifungal for ringworm, or whatever the treatment is.

Ringworm glows under UV light, its the quickest way to diagnose it.

Having googled again, I think it looks closer to vascular conditions. I'll go in person to the GP tomorrow and show the receptionist, hopefully I can get a cancellation over the next few days.

I have a condition that means I get a lot of vascular rashes. They don't normally go dry like that. But always best to get advice if in doubt

Looks like my psoriasis when I keep it well moisturised.

DianaT1969 · 21/07/2019 12:46

That's good to know about UV light and ringworm. I don't think I have any uv light devices at home today, but I can find one.
I agree about psoriasis, originally when the firstcouple showed and were small, I thought it was.

I see a Consultant Dermatologist is around today and wondered if he/she wouldn't mind me bumping this? Sorry to be cheeky. My GP isn't a skin specialist and I was planning to show to show her as soon as I can get a morning off work that co-incides with an appointment. I appreciate any advice. Thanks
