Silly question about staying at hospital with my child.

So I need to stay overnight in hospital with my child tonight. They have kindly given me a fold out bed. My silly question is do I put my PJ’s on and get into bed or just lie on top to sleep? Told you it was silly!! Thank you!

Hope you get some sleep

Ivestoppedreadingthenews · 20/07/2019 23:18

I changed (but obviously wearing pjs that were decent not shorts and vest type.)

I wore a tracksuit bottoms & tshirt. We were in for a few days - May as well get comfy

Flowers hope it goes well

Put your PJ's on and try and get as comfortable as possible. How your LO is better soon

I’ve stayed twice. Once we were sent in from GP & the GP told me to go home & pack PJs before we went in. So it’s obviously expected that you wear them. Sleep well & hope DC makes a speedy recovery.

Some people in hospital will drape themselves in a blanket. So whatever you wear will not be strange. Try to choose something that you can run to get a nurse in if necessary, but it doesn't really matter

Best wishes to you and your DC . I had to stay over once and wore T shirt and leggings as an easy to get up and go outfit, but that is because I wear nightdresses in bed , not PJs

BrokenWing · 20/07/2019 23:48

Whatever you feel most comfortable in, I stayed in comfy trousers and top as there was also a dad staying over watching bloody football without headphones and I felt more comfortable moving around ward/going to loo still dressed.

My little boy was in hospital for an operation last year. We stayed the night and I really made myself at home Blush pjs on at 8pm. The nurses brought us tea and toast and I put love island on the telly. He had a cot and I had a bed but we've always bedshared so I lifted the bars of the bed and lined them with pillows. The nurses didn't seem to mind at all.

I meant drape in a blanket instead of clothes. I don't mean you can't get under a blanket to sleep.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 21/07/2019 00:00

Hope all goes well in the morning x

NoTeaForMe · 21/07/2019 00:22

Thank you everyone. I’m in my PJ’s in the bed but I can’t get to sleep. To be expected I suppose!

PJs will be fine. There will be plenty of other parents shuffling around in whatever their relative managed to bring in. I wore some absolutely weird outfits when I was in for a week with DS thanjs to exH picking the clothes for me - I think from a bag destined for the clothes bank. GrinBlush

@itscallednickingbentcoppers I wish I had thought of that! I just climbed into the cot too Blush the nurses found me there fast asleep!

Purpleartichoke · 21/07/2019 01:37

Get yourself as comfy as you can.
