Idea for School projects in primary school

I really like the school projects given by the class teacher which help kids to be creative and increase their knowledge in addition to building their DIY skills. My son is very artistic and really enjoyed creating a teeth model and a Mountain school project by watching you tube videos like
What kind of school projects he can expect in year 5 and where should I look for ideas apart from YouTube?

@thepurpleheffalump : My understanding was that Pinterest will not give a step by step guide to make a project...That's why I always look at youtube currently...

Have a look at the school website for the year 5 curriculum and class webpages and that will give you some idea of what they are studying.
It could be the Anglo-Saxons and Romans, Picts, Celts in history.

That teeth project is totally pointless as there is no difference between the molars, canines and insisors, which is the whole point of learning about teeth.

Not sure if you get lots of positive replies, most mums in DD’s upper primary years came to hate artistic projects.

Unless it is really designed to be done by the child itself and ideally in school it is a nightmare.

Can you send him round to our house to do 'our' school projects please - we all dread them!

Nomorechickens · 20/07/2019 21:07

(Proving reluctantbrit's point)

@nomorechicken where is the like button?

We especially hated the open answer homeworks which meant they could do it anywhay they want. One child decided to make a movie, I still could kill that mum. Saying that DD’s version was great but so timeconsuming. Or the science experiment which took three days to finish, again, DD learned a lot and was praised but still at that stage homework was supposed to be an hour or so.

I think in one case we were “that parent” because my FIL was with us over the holidays and he loves woodwork but is really a person looking for details. So the Iron Age house was worth displaying in a museum thanks to him working with DD.

I’m a parent helper (listen to readers) last year I was in year 5 for a bit and the learnt about Outer space and Ancient Greece (myths).
