nighttime pull ups as a marketing con?

AIBU to see the night time huggies pull up pants as a massive marketing con for parents to shell out massive amounts of money for the pull ups. I am saying this because last night my niece stayed last night and is 4 the same age as my daughter. My daughter still wears a normal nappy and she wears a pull up and it leaked in the middle of the night so I had to strip the bed at 2am. Whereas my daughters nappy was full in the morning with no leaks. Do you see them as a con? Whilst potty training I think they are good but the expensive night time ones are awful and have cause my daughter and my niece to leak. Would love to hear your thoughts

Dd never leaked from a night time pull up. Imo they were better for her shape/ wee habits as nappies couldn't contain her wees once she was 4

MaceSmith · 20/07/2019 12:49

It’s interesting you say that about shape because my daughter and niece are quite small and lean.

With pull ups the child can be a bit more independent and put them on themselves when getting ready for bed. They feel a bit more grown up than a nappy which is associated with babies and needs an adult to put it on for them.

I suppose it is like that, but IMO it only gets like that if you make it like that.. my daughter would prefer to wear a nappy that doesn’t leak over a pull up she can pull up and down but still wakes up with a wet bed. Yes I do know what you mean about the lying down so an adult can put it on but she knows she is a big girl and I find if you treat them like a big girl in other ways eg later bedtime, brushing own teeth, picking own clothes etc then then the nappy thing is completely forgotten about and it’s for like what 40 seconds to put it on.

Dry nights are brilliant I found.

Dd wore them until 6 I wouldn't have kept her in a nappy.

MaceSmith · 20/07/2019 13:31

Yeh at 6 I will have to look for something different as I do think it’s wrong however she is 4 so still quite young. I am glad you find that they work.

Night time pull ups are great. Esp for older kids

SauvignonBlanche · 20/07/2019 13:35

They also make Huggies Dry Nites is a size 8-15.

MaceSmith · 20/07/2019 13:36

I think I need my daughter to have a growth spurt and fill out Confused

@SauvignonBlanche I think they are very good for kids that age though who still need the protection like a nappy but can be independent and put it on and off themselves especially in the night if they are going to the toilet.

This is why I bought Aldi.

MaceSmith · 20/07/2019 13:41

@YouJustDoYou

They are exactly what we use the green packet size 5+ and we can’t go wrong. We have no reason to use pull ups yet imo.

I found normal pull ups were a failure in general but the dry nites ones were fine 99.5% of the time. They also go much bigger than the normal ones.

I’m not sure what the benefit of huggies pull ups are over nappy pants? We’re still in nappy pants here but not sure if there would be advantages of changing to pull ups or not.

MaceSmith · 20/07/2019 13:51

I think that’s our issue the sizing they are too big around the legs.
