Sell clothes on eBay or Facebook?

I want to sell used clothes but I don't know which is better: ebay or Facebook? Does anybody use either to buy or sell clothes? I want to sell individual items such as monsoon or jojo dresses so not the big bundles. Some I bought and never used!!!

For that sort of stuff, eBay. Start off at the price you want then see what happens. Facebook prices are fixed. Next stuff is also popular on eBay.

This thread has some useful information about selling on eBay.

If selling on Facebook I’d recommend finding selling pages specific to the brand or style of clothes rather than just marketplace. eBay is good but you have to consider the fees

@NurseButtercup yes I remembered reading on mn that a lot of people said sellers ask for refunds and then never send items back...

Sorry I mean buyers ask for refunds

I don't touch ebay anymore, which is shame because it was great for getting rid of old clothes and making a bit of cash back.

Now it's full to chancers who make up issues to get refunds and send back damaged goods, etc.

I've recently sold lots of clothes on Ebay. I send by RM through Ebay and get a tracking number.

I know the items have arrived as I've had feedback, so why do some still show as Dispatched and not Delivered?

amylou8 · 20/07/2019 11:59

I sell on both, but not clothes anymore. Facebook you have to practically give it away. eBay does get a (slightly) better price however you have to expect returns. Even if you say no returns all the buyer has to do is say it's not as described (you said it was blue but it's actually more aqua) and eBay will allow them to send it back for a refund, and require you to pay all postage costs. If you do sell anything make sure it is tracked and signed for or it will likely go 'missing'.

@amusedbush @amylou8 this is what I'm afraid off..

I have been selling on eBay for 10+ years with very few problems
My top tips
Set starting price at minimum you will accept
Use no offers option
Send everything recorded delivery
UK buyers only
No refunds option
If buyers don’t like my terms as above then they don’t have to bid!
Good photographs - showing all details eg I take picture of tag showing size, but also reverse which usually shows fabric composition and washing instructions (solves all the - I didn’t realise it was dry clean only or I thought it was 100% cotton)
Respond to queries or problems quickly
Post straight away
I fund all my holidays and Xmas etc via eBay plus buy different clothes and shoes
My confession is I’m a shopaholic and due to ongoing diet constantly need to buy new clothes

JaceLancs · 20/07/2019 12:04

In the last year I’ve probably sold a few hundred items and only had one return request - which eBay awarded in my favour
