To think Dh is being ridiculous going gluten free (again)

I’m sick of this.

Dh gets reflux, which is shit. Over the past 3 years he’s gone gluten free or dairy free to try and see if there’s an improvement.

Any improvement has been minimal. He’s gone gluten free again (at least 4th time in 2 years). It’s a pain in the arse and it’s expensive.

Aibu to think he shouldn’t waste my and his time fucking about with this yet again.

disclaimer, I have a lot of sympathy for people who really can’t eat gluten. I have two coeliac relatives who will spend 12 hours vomiting if they accidentally eat a few grams of wheat

I get acid reflux due to a hiatus hernia and I am not overweight and do not overeat. I do find that certain foods trigger it though - coffee is one so I have cut back on that. Could he do a food diary and find out what specifically triggers it?

DTpeabody. It cost me £85 x 2. You can look up low FODMAP online but I found the consultations very helpful. I was resistant to seeing someone privately but, with only two appointments and a great outcome, it was worth it

So hevis cutting our gluten instead of following the doctors advice and retsricting fatty foods?

I woildnt play along. He would just have to miss the food with gluten in at meal times and have something else with it.

What tests has he had to rule out coeliac disease?

toldmywrath · 20/07/2019 12:47

I've got a hiatus hernia and have reflux oesophagitis. (I had an endoscope to confirm diagnosis)
I take prescription Lanzoprazole, it's wonderful. Has your husband tried this or similar (Omeprazole)
I've had H. Pylori ruled out.
Has your husband been tested and scoped?

toldmywrath · 20/07/2019 12:50

It's also not medically advised to eliminate gluten from your diet unless you have coeliac disease.
Just Google it, there's quite a few recent medical studies that have been peer reviewed.

Sorry I came across as rude there saying just Google it.Blush

He would be better keeping a food diary and being honest that some of his favourite foods are probably to blame. I have a hiatus hernia and have suffered with reflux for years (no coeliac or h pylori). My weakness is coffee. I avoid fruit juice, alcohol, too much spice etc. but I love black coffee. It doesn’t always love me back.

Alarm bells ringing when you said gets worse when he eats fatty foods. Has he had a scan of his Gallbladder done as a poorly one of those can cause the same symptoms you describe. ( had mine removed nearly two years ago)
