To think women should not be forced to wax male genitals

It’s in Canada but this case is quite shocking in it’s absurdity. A man who identifies as a woman is suing 16 women beauticians who didn’t want to have him in their home or to carry out the process. The UK generally looks to Canada for guidance in transgender rights legislation. This article explains some if the issues. www.spiked-online.com/2019/07/19/canadas-bizarre-trans-waxing-controversy/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

You say all that dragonflyflew but use the term cis which many people find quite offensive.

I didn't care about all this stuff or call myself a feminist either until I birthed a couple of children and became suddenly, brutally and acutely aware of the differences between men and women.

I'm so proud of these women for saying no. Very sad that protecting their personal boundaries and autonomy has landed them in court.

Anyone not familiar with Johnathan Yaniv should look him up. Even if it's just for a lesson in keeping an eye on the type of person who might be talking to your teens on the internet.

Most feminist groups would throw me out for being transphobic, sex work phobic and porn phobic.

That's liberal feminism. Or Feminism For Men, as it's known colloquially.

You sound like you would fit in perfectly over on the feminism boards. Or Nest Of Vipers as it's known colloquially. Smile

Toorahtoorahaye · 19/07/2019 23:46

“I think you don't actually have a clue what feminism is.“

I don’t think “feminism” knows what it is anymore. It’s all over the place with different factions totally contradicting each other- even hating each other.

God this is depressing isn't it? It's certainly true of the state funded women's organisations.

"Most feminist groups would throw me out for being transphobic, sex work phobic and porn phobic."

You don't have to be in a group to be a feminist.

This article explains some if the issues.

The article is too kind to Yaniv, until recently something of a darling of Canada's very powerful Genderist movement.

He has lost some support since evidence of his repeated sexual behaviour to young girls has been plastered online. He has a fetish for tampons. He requested that some of these women wax him 'with a tampon in'.

He seem pretty overtly racist- hence the targeting of non-white beauticians. This appears to be the main source of contention in the case. My reading of it (although I find the partial transcript online quite obtuse) is that the tribunal has already decided that the sexual nature of his requests is irrelevant and does not give the women the right to refuse service.

Apolloniaprince · 20/07/2019 00:15

You absolutely don't need to be a 'feminist' to be disgusted that this person has brought a civil case against women who 1. Don't want to touch a 'female penis' (give your head a wobble to whoever invented such a ridiculous phrase - you got a penis? you're a bloke, end of) 2. Aren't trained in ball/penis waxing.

What's really frightening is this person has obvious paedophile thoughts - he (and he is a he - there is nothing 'feminine about him, particularly in the way he dresses like some back street whore Hmm. He's curious about if in changing rooms he'll see tits and pussies, whether he'll see tampon strings hanging out vaginas and whether he, as a man, should advise 10 year olds how to insert a tampon.

Wake the the fuck up anyone who could defend this paedophile and shame on you - he's an insult to genuine trans women and everything that screams whats wrong with being 'PC'.

AngeloMysterioso · 20/07/2019 00:23

I wanted to post on AIBU, I don’t call myself a feminist.

There is also a thread about this on AIBU

dragonflyflew · 20/07/2019 01:08

Cos should have been in quotes. I never use the term, I posted late at night and in no way meant to offend . I hate all the new pejorative terminology.

dragonflyflew · 20/07/2019 01:10

*cis even. I had no idea there’s a list of banned words. See how easy it is to offend, even with people who feel and think the same way about the issue. it’s such a sensitive subject.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/07/2019 01:16

Da fuq?

donquixotedelamancha · 20/07/2019 02:18

Da fuq?

I should qualify that I am relying on other's interpretation of the Canadian legal points discussed but, yeah, that was my reaction.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/07/2019 02:57

That sounds dangerously close to compelling prostitution. Canadian government pimping newcomer women.

slipperywhensparticus · 20/07/2019 20:18

How the hell can Canada endorse this? Honestly I feel like going over and waxing his balls myself clearly it's fine as I'm totally untrained and not Canadian
