Bad breath joke

A coworker made a rude comment about my breath in the middle of an open plan office, which I found really embrassing. He tried to pass it off as a joke, but I am very conscious about my breath when I don’t have gum.

I smiled, continued our conversation, then walked away eventually. But I can’t stop thinking about it and still feel mortified.

So my question is - WIBU to pull him up on it?

I would have a word next week, probably would have been better to do it there and then - you could have embarrassed him by saying something like ‘that is really unkind. Why would you say something like that?’ And just leave it hanging.

I would’ve also felt mortified by this, but pulling him up on it will just prolong your embarrassment and will make him uncomfortable. I would just let this one go and avoid him in future as he sounds very rude.

Oh gosh OP, so sorry this happened. My dad made a similar comment to me when I was about 13 or 14 and it stuck with me!

That’s horrible OP. He must be really mean to do that in front of colleagues. I think I would say something to him because hopefully it might make him think twice about doing something like that again.

Is he usually a twat?
