To ask you if I have appendicitis?

I know aibu is not the place to post this so by default I abvvvu but I can’t get an appointment at my GP until 8th of August and not sure if it’s an emergency.

It was my dds first birthday party on Saturday. DP and I were fooling around and he picked me up by my stomach, I had the worst pressured pain possible. It almost felt like I could feel something move, almost like the pressure of pregnancy? I know that doesn’t make sense! Definitely not pregnant. Since then have had really bad pain lower pelvis, starting at the right side of my upper pubic area and moving across towards my belly button. I just assumed possibly a pulled muscle(?) as I did a pretty vigorous work out a few days before and I’m not the fittest of people. It hurts to cough, sneeze, laugh, to stand up and sit down, rolling over in bed is awful. Monday I woke up In the middle of the night with a very upset tummy (Blush sorry tmi) and then yesterday evening I developed a fever with awful aches, every part of my body is hurting and paracetamol and ibruprofen offer zero relief. I’ve had very loose bathroom visits (sorry!!Blush) and also feel nauseous and very weak.

I know the two are likely not connected and I’ve probably just got a summer viral infection or something but can’t help but worry it could be something more sinister.

Tia!!

Occasionally with pelvic infection / inflammation the ureter ( tubes from kidneys to bladder) become involved so it is not unheard of for patients to have blood and white cells in the urine with causes other than uti.

MysteryManchild · 19/07/2019 12:13

When I was there she checked blood pressure and temperature both were fine! Temperature was 37.9 and blood pressure was somewhere between 88/120ish?? I can’t remember. Do you think it could still be something more sinister? Is it worth getting a second opinion?

The bruise thing was definitely strange! What she actually said was “I can feel a collection of blood, which is probably just bruising” gross!

On a side note, do you think taking Imodium for the diarrhoea is a good idea? If it is related to the antibiotics that is. Still worried it might be a bug and in that case better out than in? Despite how much I just want it to stop Sad poor dd has barely been outside in a week!

Literally it’s coming out quicker than I can put it in. Barely eaten or drinking though I’m trying to drink water it just seems to come straight out! Sad

I'd be ringing 111 to get their advice. Doesn't sound like a UTI and you're at risk of dehydration.

Hope you get better soon OP

lovelilies · 19/07/2019 12:23

A&E nurse here, I think GP is talking out of her arse.
You need bloods and a surgeon opinion

SmallHope · 19/07/2019 12:26

I can't believe the GP didn't even do bloods?!

Get another appointment, you don't sound well at all OP. You're supposed to go back if you deteriorate, which you have.

Northernsoullover · 19/07/2019 23:49

I hope you got help OP.

Strangely the pain in my lower side is gone, I’m guessing the bruise or whatever it was has started to heal.

On the other hand the antibiotics have completely wrecked my stomach, literally rushing to the loo constantly, bad stomach cramps. Ended up not taking any more antibiotics after the initial two as she wasn’t even 100% certain that I had a urine infection Hmm Felt like it really wasn’t doing me any good.

Feeling very sorry for myself, DP is making fun of me quite a bit. It’s humiliating enough without him acting like a twat Confused just want to be better so I can go for a walk and drink coffee Sad

Sorry this is very very TMI but you all have been so helpful I was wondering if maybe you thought this was anything to worry about..

I felt like I need to go so was sat on the toilet, nothing came out but when I wiped just in case there was brown mucus tinged with blood and it smelt so terrible. Was only a tiny bit but just felt odd! Also noticed that diarrhoea is a green colour ConfusedSad

I had this, (un)luckly I was in so much pain I collapsed waiting for the doc and ended up spending a week in ICU on 3 different types of IV antiboitics due to severe mesenteric adenitis.

It could be that you have the same (gives same symptoms as appendicitis) and have been left with an infection; the mucus and blood (and green colour) in your stools and smelling bad is what I get when I have a bad IBS flareup and I have to go about 15 times a day.

You need to get seen ASAP!! I'm thinking the infection is still there and that needs to be sorted out pronto!!!.

RandomMess · 20/07/2019 18:36

You need to seek urgent medical help.

olympicsrock · 20/07/2019 18:53

This sounds like colitis / which can be infectious or inflammatory . I’m the surgeon who told you yesterday to go to ED and get bloods and a proper surgical review. Please take notice of the people here who have given you sound advice.

RandomMess · 20/07/2019 18:55

@olympicsrock is there a chance it could be diverticulitis or would that have shown up in bloods?

olympicsrock · 20/07/2019 22:18

That’s a possibility too. Any inflammatory process or infection would show up in bloods.

Dizzywizz · 22/07/2019 15:44

How are you feeling now @MysteryManchild?
