My DP and I are planning on starting to try for our first baby in about a month's time.

AIBU to ask what you wish you had done before trying to conceive? Fun and serious suggestions are welcomed!

Just enjoy every second of freedom. Go out a LOT, sleep in at the weekend, go on holidays.

Or, do none of the above in preparation for not being able to do them once a baby arrives!

HollyGoLoudly1 · 18/07/2019 20:55

Did a couple more big holidays, had more nights out, gone to the gym more so I was fitter less chubby for my pregnancy.

Weirdly, spend time with people with babies - we didn’t really know many and it was a complete and utter shock - we got one that didn’t sleep at all as I only knew my perfect nieces I spent the first three years of my sons life wracked with hideous guilt that his inability to sleep was because of my parenting choices. Then I had another baby who sleeps and I know it’s not my fault! Whoop! If I had spent time actually observing other babies I’d have been in a better place I think!

Wish I’d met my DH when we were younger ,

We were late 30s when we met , we married 6 months later and I conceived a honeymoon baby ( thought it would take ages ! )

So I wish we’d had more time to be a couple , and do the going for dinner , the cinema , weekends away
We can now , the DC are both grown up and we have time to ourselves at last 👍

Established a career. Childcare and the cost of re-training don’t match.

Mummoomoocow · 18/07/2019 22:17

Built up a good quality staples wardrobe of clothes to really feel good about. Then arranged and stuck to a gym schedule like glue to help slip back into going to the gym postpartum.

Peachy8 · 18/07/2019 22:17

Weekends away and definitely having that "one more drink." Meeting up with friends, leisurely breakfasts, binge watching entire series over the weekend.

PurpleFlower1983 · 18/07/2019 22:21

Decluttered the house - I have a 5 month old fast approaching being on the move and a house full of dangers!

Adoptthisdogornot · 18/07/2019 23:22

Sunday papers in bed.

RJnomore1 · 18/07/2019 23:26

Cinema.

The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was havin to make major plans to go to the cinema when they were babies. Or to 15/18 films for many years.

boosterrooster · 19/07/2019 11:28

More European City Breaks

More all day drinking sessions

Saved more money

Lost more weight before getting pregnant

Big yes to decluttering the house!

Chocolatelover45 · 19/07/2019 11:44

Worked abroad - always intended to but never got round to it and much more difficult with small children just because of all the stuff you need
