Plusnet seem to be good.

Most providers like to take your money and give you a rubbish service in my experience.

iamtinkabella · 18/07/2019 10:13

@probstimeforanewname never even heard of them! thank you i will have a look! Yes, i know. Its so frustrating.

It depends on what you want, basic TV and broadband or every channel going and super fast broadband?

NoBaggyPants · 18/07/2019 10:15

And are you already with a provider and have you tried negotiating with them?

iamtinkabella · 18/07/2019 10:22

@NoBaggyPants Not extremely fussed on having very channel going. Just need fast broadband! and no, i was with Virgin Media but would never go back with them. I am moving so want to change

In that case, work out what you want and then play the suppliers (BT, PlusNet, Sky) off against each other. I pay around £20 a month for bb, phone and the lowest TV package on Sky, as a new customer you may even be able to get it lower. Have a look at uswitch where you can compare all the companies available in your area.

And don't tell the new company that you wouldn't go back to Virgin. They need to think they've got maximum competition, so more motivation to give you the best deal.

mommybear1 · 18/07/2019 15:00

Bumping this thread as I'm in the same boat Sky say the cheapest they can give me (current provider) is £93 per month - I've started looking round as there is no way I'm paying that kind of money!

SmallHope · 18/07/2019 15:08

I have BT super fast broadband (unlimited) with line rental and free weekend calls and I pay £26.99 a month, and I had a £50 BT Reward Card (I used it for gin and petrol!) that's on a 12 month contract.

I got that deal by bartering on the phone and being super, super friendly, nice and thankful. "Oh I realllly want to stay with you because your service is great but Virgin are offering a good deal, can you match it?" sort of thing.

If you go through Topcashback you can usually get at least £100 cashback when you sign up to a new deal as a new customer, which works out great. When you compare, compare the annual cost including benefits/costs for a true comparison.

SmallHope · 18/07/2019 15:08

*superfast fibre broadband

Purpletigers · 18/07/2019 15:12

Either BT or sky are your best bets . Use topcashback as they offer about £110 for new contracts and move again when the contract is up . You should be able to keep landline rental and internet costs to approx 20/22 a month if you move every 18 months .

Purpletigers · 18/07/2019 15:13

There are a few comparison websites you can use to compare suppliers .

TescoValueUserName · 18/07/2019 15:22

I've just taken out a virgin deal of super fast (100mb) broadband, basic tv package and phone line with free weekend calls for £29 a month.

I was looking at just broadband with ee and sky and they were £29 on their own!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 18/07/2019 15:31

I went from

iamtinkabella · 19/07/2019 08:36

@mommybear1 its stupid how much they can charge isnt it!

Thank you everyone for your replies they have been really helpful. As long as the WIFI is unlimited (i WFH) then its all good. Im not fussed on having the best tv package as long as it has kids programs its fine!

Has anyone tried Zen? They get great reviews, but are more expensive...

mommybear1 · 19/07/2019 15:05

@iamtinkabella yes I'm astounded by it - I feel it's a con just like the gas and electric we shouldn't have to go through reams of comparison sites etc to get the best deal it should be clear and advertised. I do follow the same ideas as @SmallHope - however yesterday I called Sky to barter as I'd found a decent deal on Virgin for 65 the chap literally laughed and said he could only offer a further 3 from the price Hmm I thanked him for his time and asked for the direct line for the cancellation team rather than retentions Wink

MRex · 19/07/2019 15:07

We're on Plusnet + Netflix for the TV. We had one or two small hiccups with them, any issues you must phone not email, but they've been far better than Virgin for me.
