AIBU to think that my Fitbit is trying to tell me something?

I've been wearing my new FitBit for the last two weeks since starting my post-holiday fitness kick. My best friend has just bought one too and we have been comparing stats.

What is worrying me is that my FitBit says I'm only getting approximately 2.5 hours sleep per night. Now as far as I am aware, this cannot possibly be correct! I have always felt like I have slept relatively well. I go to bed at 10pm and my alarm goes off at 7am.

I don't have any trouble getting to sleep, I have no memory of waking/tossing/turning in the night. My partner often leaves around 6am whereas I don't need to be up until 7am, he wakes me to say goodbye and I fall straight back to sleep for an hour. When my alarm goes off, I don't feel particularly shattered or unable to get up etc, just a little sleepy?

Speaking to my friend, her FitBit registers her as getting 7-8hours sleep. So we swapped FitBits incase it was a glitch with mine, but lo and behold, mine still reads 2-3hours. Tried tightening it, wearing it on the other wrist, but no change.

I think ‘adjust the sensitivity settings’ might become the new cancel, the cheque.

I've genuinely never understood the need for the sleep monitoring thing.

I don't monitor my sleep but I do find it interesting. Term time i'm somewhere around 6hrs, school holidays are just over an hour more.

My DD sent me a screenshot of her steps the other day and i could see she had a very long siesta!

I also find the sleep function interesting and even though I know it’s not 100% accurate I find it quite reassuring. Like the step counter function it encourages me into good habits.

It's much less accurate without heart rate. I used to. Record 3-4 hours sleep with my Alta. With the Alta HR I seem to get about 7 hours.

The nhs is on its knees. And you want tests and what not for something that you have literally no symptoms for?

Apple watches and them picking up "af" etc etc is a huge problem
.nhs pick up the slack. Unnecessary investigations. Time wasted on this stuff when drs time could be spent on people with actual symptoms.

The sleep sensitivity already has sensitive ticked.

Definitely seems to be me rather than the FitBit. I tried resetting last night, uninstalled and rebooted and still the same this morning.

I am going to borrow my friends again over the weekend and check again to see what happens there!

@DaisyChainsGetBroken I haven't actually mentioned going to the doctors or involving the NHS whatsoever. Not that it is necessarily relevant but I actually have private health cover through work so there really is no need to be so preachy.

If your friend's one has a heart rate tracker, post that chart as well.

Seren10 · 18/07/2019 11:56

@MRex will do!!

If you're paying for it yourself then rock on and pay for any tests you like.

I think you need to untick the sensitive box. I sleep like a corpse but if my Fitbit is in sensitive mode I look like the worst sleeper ever 🙂

namechangeninjaevervigilant · 18/07/2019 17:32

If it’s not working on sensitive tick the NORMAL box!!!!!
