Come on MN do you not see how ridiculous and insensitive your ads are becoming?
"My dog just died", MN "Here try some sistema boxes".
You are ruining this site with your daft ads.

OP posts:
yunalis · 16/07/2019 17:17

I even have a local dns server and sistema is on every post.

Honeysuckle that's a perfect example.

NiceRadFem · 16/07/2019 17:19

Come here to say... Sistema boxes.. they are just GREAT, aren't they? Wink

ChicCroissant · 16/07/2019 17:20

I'm on my laptop with an ad blocker and not getting the sistema adverts. I have loads of their boxes in various sizes anyway, and the drinks bottles so your job is already done Grin

AnyaMumsnet · 16/07/2019 17:21

Hi there all,

We're trying to find why this has gone live - it was never meant to be on for logged in users, or even in whole topics. It was meant to be a very small test targeted at a few specific threads for logged out users. We've switched it off now so do let us know if you still see it anywhere.

We're really sorry about this Flowers

@NiceRadFem Funnily enough I came on to say exactly the same! I have a large Bento. How about you?

redredrobins · 16/07/2019 17:24

It popped up timed 2 minutes after the above message! for gods sake please get rid!

DGRossetti · 16/07/2019 17:26

It's no so much to kill ads as tracking sites. And just keep browsing between me and my computer, rather than let Virgin market it onwards ....

BlackBirdInMyGarden · 16/07/2019 17:28

Still on every single thread I've visited - including ones posted after you apparently turned it off.

Hello1290 · 16/07/2019 17:29

Yes I agree the ads and videos are annoying totally putting me off using Mumsnet.

bananasaidso · 16/07/2019 17:35

Just put an adblocker on. I never see ads. Or may be I don't notice them [thinking]

redredrobins · 16/07/2019 17:39

I have adblocker but am still getting the bloody box link!

FuzzyPixel · 16/07/2019 17:44

I'm still seeing the sistema advert. It's really irritating.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 16/07/2019 17:44

These are specific posts from Mumsnet shop bot. Ad blockers won't stop them. They are posts in a thread by Mumsnet

yunalis · 16/07/2019 17:46

DGRossetti I mostly just use it for ad blocking. Synology dns server though not pi,

Interesting, tx.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 16/07/2019 17:51

It's still happening, so whatever you've turned off, it wasn't the Shop bot.

poorbuthappy · 16/07/2019 17:58

Haven't seen any on the app?

PollyEsterblouse · 16/07/2019 18:03

uBlock Origin is a much better adblocker! Absolutely nothing gets past it.

I've no idea which Sistema boxes everyone's talking about, and it's wonderful. Grin

NiceRadFem · 16/07/2019 18:08

Maybe I am juvenile but this made me laugh
Transphobic? Sistema boxes?

I dont want any sistema boxes

I fiddled around with my settings a couple of months ago. Can't remember what exactly I did, but I've blocked javascript, which means that I don't get all the really annoying autoplay pop-ups. I use Chrome. You have to add specific websites to the javascript blocker, but it's easy enough to do once you've found your way to the javablock part.

If you can follow this, hope it's of some help:
click on the 3 vertical dots at top right
choose Settings
On the top left of the blue bar, click on the horizontal white lines on the left of the word 'Settings'
Choose 'Privacy and Security'
Choose 'Site Settings' from the list
scroll down to javascript and click on it.
you can then add sites to block the javascript on. You might have to manually enter the website address.

guiltynetter · 16/07/2019 18:10

@anyamumsnet it's in every single thread I've read today! including the ones over the past few minutes...

Ringsender2 · 16/07/2019 18:10

Elphame · 16/07/2019 18:10

Since ad revenue started falling so many sites have tried to counter it by showing even more ads. All it does is make sure that more people run adblockers.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 16/07/2019 18:10

Is this the same as the bloody 6m baby grobags that are popping up on threads now? Because if it is, it's equally inappropriate!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 16/07/2019 18:13

Also discovered you can't report the shop bot posts directly because they go to some ancient (2011) post about something else entirely!

I haven't searched up baby grobags for YEARS, as my boys are now 11 and 6, so haven't needed to, so it's not based on my search history.
