To ask for your miracles?

I was never sure about having children after a traumatic childhood myself, but I was lucky enough to meet a wonderful man and after 4 years together we started TTC. Every month I hoped, tracked, read books and a few times convinced myself I was pregnant but sadly it hasn't happened for us.

It's been just over three years now and a long, stressful journey. There are fertility issues with both DH and I that mean IVF isn't suitable and there's a very low chance of conceiving.

But the way I see it, a chance is still a chance.

Please share your miracles, if there are any out there, of a natural conception against all odds?

Wishing you all the best.

Not myself, but a friend conceived naturally after 7 years and 4 failed IVF treatments and now has a beautiful five year old.

If adoption or fostering could be an option to you I don't have any experience but have always thought they would be magical in their own way.

Hi @SmallHope I have had five miracles. I have PCOS and struggled to conceive, but I have a 10 year old and a 14 year old.

I promised myself I would never put myself through the emotional agony of TTC but, after splitting from my DC's dad and meeting my DP, I fell pregnant by complete surprise 3.5 years ago. To me that was a miracle.
Sadly a scan showed we lost our little one at 9 weeks whihc absolutely destroyed me. 3.5 years later, we've had two further losses (also MMC) but I'm clinging to the hope we will hold our rainbow baby eventually - the ultimate miracle... Though, I have to say, it is tearing me apart piece by piece.

I hope you get your little miracle. It is so unfair that women get pregnant and have babies all the time, yet some struggle so much Sad

A miracle isn't something happening against the odds, it's something happening that just isn't possible, which is why there are no miracles, and never have been.

But loads of very unlikely things happen, so fingers crossed.

I knew a woman who was told she could never have children. She fell pregnant at age 45 naturally and had a healthy baby. I hope you get your miracle x

Back in the 70’s my parents had 3 still births (this was the days before ivf so that wasn’t an option for them either)
They where told to ‘go home and buy a dog-you’ll never get pregnant again’

Fast forward 5 years they had me
2 years after me they had my brother
6 years after me they had twins
My dad went for the snip 6 weeks after that!

19 years after having me I had their first grandchild
Now they have 7 grandkids (only 6 are mine-the other is my brothers kid)

Oh and the dog died when I was 8

A miracle isn't something happening against the odds, it's something happening that just isn't possible, which is why there are no miracles, and never have been

Was that really necessary @Lifecraft? We all know miracles do not happen and I very much doubt the word was used to mean literally. @SmallHope has clearly been through a lot and I'm fairly certain she doesn't need correcting on her choice of words. Maybe give her a bit of poetic licence here?

SmallHope · 17/07/2019 19:24

@Rainbowknickers oh wow that's lovely to hear!

@Frazzlerock thanks for that, I assumed Lifecraft was being goadily pedantic there and ignored.

And if you look up the OED definition of miracle it includes: A remarkable event or development that brings very welcome consequences - well if I conceived it would be a remarkable event and it would be very a welcome consequence to my life!

We tried for 6 years, just kept being told it would happen eventually and to keep trying. My partner had a very low sperm count (About 2 million). I always suspected a varicosele (vein in his testicles boiling the sperm) and asked him to ask the doctor but he just looked, had a feel and said that wasn't the problem. Last November he thought he had a lump and after a scan they found a large Varicosele! So in December they operated..15 min operation, painless, walked out with no complaints. We found out Easter Sunday that I am pregnant, total and utter shock as we thought it wouldn't work! We totally never thought it would happen! I really feel for you, its one of the hardest most relentless circle of hope and disappointment. Wishing you all the best

I have two different friends who both spent many years and many thousands of pounds conceiving their first babies.

Both friends had 'accidental' second babies.
